This is a little clip that Jeremy took at this really amazing bier hall during our last night out in Germany. It was pouring outside and everyone was drenched from the walk there, but in typical German style, everyone was too busy having fun to care. There were these wierd life-sized puppets behind the bar that were playing traditional German songs with actual instruments and everyone was singing along. The waiters made sure that your glass was always full with their special brew. The clip catches the end of one of the favorite songs and gives a sense of the ambiance, but of course, can only begin to capture the experience of actually being there. You can see pictures of the bar and puppets by clicking here or visiting the "Cologne, Germany" section of our "Trips" page. Jess has also posted a journal entitled Lessons in German.
Here are some views of Marseille and it's beautiful port. We tried to capture it as best we could with our digital camera. . .but please excuse the bumpiness and the annoying voice. Who is that girl?
Here is a small video of Prague's Old Town Square. In this video we have attempted to share with you a little bit of the amazement we felt walking around this beautiful city on Jessica's birthday.
Carnival in France is a huge celebration. It is much different than the festivals in the United States that are geared more toward commercialism and children. They include everyone---the elderly, disabled, children, and adults were all equally out to have a good time in their homemade costumes and floats. Here are a few clips of the big parade set to some French music we recently acquired.
Barcelona was one of our favorite cities during our European tour. The video clip displays its world famous street performers. They stand frozen in time like human statues until someone springs them into action by dropping a few cents into their jars. It is actually kind of spooky!
