THIS PAGE FOR MY SOBE
STA FRIENDS AND TROOPS
                1954-56
Above, Bob Monk, Ret'd SgtMaj, ASA & The Late MSgt R. C. Lee, 1st Sgt, TRRS & Comm Cen Ch, Sobe - Two of  the finest ever to serve  the ASA mission, in front of the  Water Level Jap Pill Box, WWII "Yellow Beach" landing site. (Pill box photoed by just about ever ASA troop ever at Sobe/Torii).
Below, view from inside the pill box. Many years later, I showed this photo to a neighbor who, as a U S Marine Infantry troop, landed on this very beach. He shuddered as he viewed the photo, commented - I'm glad they did but I  wonder how they missed me. I understood how he felt, even seven years later, (date of the photo), w/the implacement long empty, it had an forboding feel about it.       The father of  one of my Trick three troops,  died on this WWII Invasion beach.  He told no one,  until about a week before the young ASAers DEROS date!!!
Not all hacking dits and/or rolling tape - Trick Trhee beer bust at Ishikawa Beach, 1954.
Above: Jim Lynn, Ch Trk 3, Chas "Tex"Richards, Comm Cen, (Late) MSgt Russ Sinclair, set up the first ASA presence on Taiwan - one of the finest to serve the US Army Security Agency, Bob Monk, TRRS, Mexico Cy, Teheran, (SgtMajRetd)
Lynn, Richards and Monk, below, same BeerBust
Bolo point, view probably not seen by all ASAers
Planning "war", ASA troop went to war once a month!! At Bolo point, forced march turn point, blisters galore!!! Sgt Monk, SFC Lynn, try as I might CRS name of the other fine troop.
Local labor, making 9 to 5, leaning on mower, view from roof bks 1 toward main gate.
View (below) of Sobe Sta Man Gate from Bks three, troops on forced march, playing Army for Maj Treffery,  making blisters - bummer!!!!  This view across  vacant area where club/pool etc were later constructed - must have been nice!!
Trick 4 troops, (looks like about 80 or so in pic) on way to stand tall for Major Trefferys evil eyeball - missing a lot of needed sleep.. bummer. glad IG got that sucker!!!! (View from trk 3  bks)
Story goes w/the pics of Bolo Point & "War Planning", We noticed a putt-putt plane flying low parallel to the water line, towing something - we had no idea what was going down, until a battery of 120mm coastal guns entrenched back a ways fired  arial bursts, en-salvo at the towed target - man o man, we thought aramgedon or whatever, we were almost driectly under the bursts  - one more ear drum injury - VA says 65% loss!!!!
