Annual Unit Training, 11th Mobile Comm Sqdn, USAFRes, Detachment 2 (R-G AB Mo.) and  Detachment 4, Long Island NY.
Event,  Luncheon during summer training.
Featured Speaker: W.E."Dode" McIntosh,
Chief of the Creek Nation. The Chief was a direct descendant of  Bushyhead, Chief of the North Carolina Cherokee Tribe.  Bushyhead was a red headed Scot immigrant (real name McIntosh), that married a Cherokee and became Chief of the Cherokees. The name Bushhead prevails to this day, town by that name in eastern Oklahoma.  After the luncheon I had a chance to visit w/the Chief, one on one and told him of my Cherokee ancestry.  He said quietly, "Yes, I know - I watched you as I spoke of Indian history and herirtage - your Indian blood showed in the rapt attention you paid to my stories".
Chickasaw Princess Ranell James, Daughter of Chickasaw Nation Governor Dr. Overton James.  She expressed an interest in visiting the flight deck of the C-119 Flying Boxcar aircraft that the USAFRes unit home based as Davis Field.  It was my duty as First Sergeant of the combined Mobile Comm Sqdn to accept this assignment - tough task but someone had to do it!!!!  This beautiful young Indian maiden,  very personable and deserving of the title of Princess had graduated from Muskogee HS just the past month and had enrolled at Oklahoma State University.
