| Country school, Fairview Community, McClain County, Oklahoma. Originaly Three rooms - WWII moved families of the farms into town. Farm folks could not afford the little country the upkeep, coupled with desire for the "luxaries" of living in town - running water - even hot running water, so many more comforts. Did not take long for the desire for town living to override the quiet and peace of the farm. My school years at Fairview, 1935-37, 1942-45. Mom, Bessie Lee Bacon, her brothers Parks, Robert, BH, Barney, Raymond and sister Cora all attended this school - as did many of the intermarrying wives. My first teacher, MIss Elsie Goss, 1935 - Mrs Bud Wolters - lived to the age of 93, in Asa, Okla, her retirement years. Teacher in sixth grade, Miaa Ivt Maynord, married Raymond Bacon, on home leave from US Navy, WWII. Teacher, 7th and 8th grade - Mr Ben F Mitchusson. |
