Jim Thorpe is about 4 hours from Washington, 1 1/2 - 2 hours from Philadelphia and and 2 1/2 hours from New York and accessible via Interstate 81, Pennsylvania Turnpike, or Route 209.
WESTERN
PENNSYLVANIA
Take routes 78/22 West into Allentown area. Take route 476 N (PA turnpike,
Northeast extension). Get off at the Mahoning Valley exit. This is exit
number 74 (formerly 34). Take 209 South (for approximately 6 miles) into
Jim Thorpe.
PHILADELPHIA
& SOUTH JERSEY
Take route 76 west to route 476 north. Follow 476 north (it becomes the
Northeast extension of the PA turnpike). Stay on route 476 for approximately
one hour. Get off at the Mahoning Valley exit. This is exit number 74
(formerly 34). From there take route 209 south (Approximately 6 miles)
into Jim Thorpe.
NORTH
JERSEY & NYC AREA
Take route 80 West into PA. Get off at the Blakeslee exit #284 (formerly
43). Make a left onto 115 South. Go approximately 3-4 miles and turn right
onto 903 south. Continue on 903 for approximately 18 miles into Jim Thorpe.
Go across the bridge at first light make a left turn. This will bring
you to the Historic District of Jim Thorpe.
CENTRAL
NEW JERSEY
Take 78 west into PA. It becomes 78/22 in PA. Take route 476 N (PA turnpike,
Northeast extension). Get off at the Mahoning Valley exit. This is exit
number 74 (formerly 34). Take 209 South (for approximately 6 miles) into
Jim Thorpe.
BALTIMORE, & DC AREA
Take 95 north to 83 North to 81 North. Exit 81 at Hometown/Mahanoy City exit, toward Hometown. Stay on Route 54 to Nesquohoning, then make a left onto Route 209 South. Go 4 miles to Jim Thorpe. Make a left and go over the bridge which turns into 903 North.
