El Morro is a National Monument a few miles southwest of Grants NM.

Rain water from the bluffs above collect in a rock depression at the base of the bluff. When full it can hold in excess of 200,000 gallons. Early Native Americans and Spanish explores used it as a campsite. It is very much like the "Tank" in the White Tank Mts. near Phoenix.

Often the travelers would leave their names and or messages in the sand stone bluffs. This is one left by a Spanish explorer in 1620.
