Rakers' page 25

We took a short trip to Jerome AZ, via Prescott, with our friends the Jordens. It was a beautiful drive. Jerome is an old copper mining town. In its' hayday (the late 1800s) it was the third largest town in Arizona. The whole town is built on the side of a hill overlooking a broad valley. The road through the mountains to get there is one switchback after another.

At the higher elevations the road passes through forests of Pondarosa Pines

From the main street in Jerome this was the view of the valley.

The same view from closer to the rail.
