He attended Bloomsburg University of Pennslyvania and graduated, receiving a B.A. in acting. After that, he attended the Flat Rock Playhouse in Flat Rock, North Carolina and then went on to the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Williamstown, Massachusetts. He attended the festival for about 4 years and was in numerous plays with the theatre. Also, while he was there he got an opportunity of a life time to do a short skit during the intermission of "Cabaret" on Broadway in New York City. Then, he landed a part of 'Noah' in Amy Heckerling's movie, "Loser". He played a crazy, rich, party boy who got in a little too much trouble. After filming that, he went back to the Williamstown Theatre Festival and continued acting with them until he got asked by John Krokidas to be in a short film called, "Slo-Mo". Jimmi's character in the movie is a writer who gets a writers block and gets so depressed, he feels as if he is going way slower than everyone else.
Since then, Jimmi has been in "Stephen King's Rose Red", "24", "D.E.B.S.;The Academy", "Final Draft", "Cold Case", and "NYPD Blue". Jimmi is currently dating fellow actress Melanie Lynskey whom he met on the set of "Stephen King's Rose Red". She played Sister Wheaton. Jimmi and Melanie both currently live in Los Angeles with their dog that they recently got named Mouse.
