Daydreaming Of You
I stayed up late last night, wondering about you
wondering if you were warm and had enough cover
about your lovely hair on your pillow, was it covering your face
blanket pulled up over your breasts, looking at your lovely neck
wanting to gently reach down and move your hair back
to get a better look and place a gentle kiss there
wondering what it would be like to be there in bed with you
while you slept, breathing quietly, at peace with the world
for a few moments no strife, no heartache, no pain, just sleep
looking at your lips and wondering if I kissed them lightly
would I wake you from this peaceful resting place
I take the back of two fingers and gently caress your cheek
with one hand I carefully move the locks over your forehead back
and ever so gently place a kiss there and then lean back
and just absorb that at which I am gazing
with my eyes closed I smile and can feel your warmth
hear your even breathing, your chest rising and falling gently
I lay my finger lightly on your wrist and can feel your pulse
your heart beats and your pulse is transferred to mine
then I peacefully drift off to sleep, smiling,
connected through the cosmos with the one I love
