Mariano Casillas born abt. 1831 in San Antonio, his parents were Juan Casillas and Maria Dolores Alderete. He is believed to have been half brother to Yrineo Casillas, who's parents are listed as having been Juan Casillas and Manuela Arredondo.

In the 1850 census of Bexar County, Dolores Alderete appears listed as age 38, Mariano -age 19, Manuel -age 16, and Santiago -age 12. But strangely, the husband is not listed at all.

Mariano appears in the San Fernando de Bexar records marrying Jesusa Ramirez on 20 May, 1851. They appear a few years later just prior to the founding of Resurrecion, in the records of Gigedo.
