Woman's Costume Not Big Hit With People Under 25
Gardena, CA - On Halloween, it was reported that a woman wearing a costume modeled after a character in a Blind Melon video was not well understood by teens.  Gina Uehara, who found the costume "ingenious" was shocked by the ignorance of the younger generation.  "All I know is that when I picked out this costume, everyone 26 and above laughed their heads off.  But my little brother, he just stood there, stupified."  MTV had played the Blind Melon video repeatedly back in '91 and '92, and the band has quite a cult following.  Uehara says,"I'm not what they call a 'Melonhead', I just needed a costume."  Teens who spoke with Uehara were asking why a bumblebee would need glasses and tap shoes.  "It's very frustrating to know that my costume will not humor the masses.  I doubt my Tootie from Facts of Life costume will fly.  Damn kids."  Still undecided for a new costume, Uehara thinks she may do something less trivial, like a ghost.
