Nagano

THE OLYMPICS! It was 5:30 in the morning and my Filippino friend Michael had never played in snow. SO, we played outside the central trainstation for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics!

...just a tad chilly...

A couple of my friends and I had tickets for a hockey game between Germany and Belarus. Before going in we were roused by a taiko (big drum) group made up of women. They moved almost as fast as the hockey players!

Besides the Olympics, Nagano is famous for this Buddist temple, Zenkoji. It has a tunnel in the basement that winds and turns until you reach the light--The Enlightenment.

I thought it was a little presumptious, but CBS had they headquarters parked right in the temple courtyard!

On the way to the temple I spotted this sleek looking alien creature. Just couldn't resist. Afterwards we trugged down the road and signed our names on the Coco-cola Olympic wall.
