Powell Butte is located in southeast Portland approximately 15 - 20 minutes from the downtown area. It offers switchbacks, long descents, some moderate technical areas and lots of single track. The various meadows, dense forest ares, orchards and beautiful views make it a very scenic place to ride. Some of the drawbacks of riding here are lack of trail maintance and limited riding riding area. One can cover all the trails in the park in 2 hours of riding. |

THE LARGEST URBAN PARK IN NORTH AMERICA!
Forest park is a 5,000 acre dense forest located in the west hills bordering downtown Portland. With over 70 miles of trails, it is nice to retreat here after a day of work in the city. It is a great place for a beginner to get into the sport of mountain biking. Features some very long flat streches on some trails. Other "firelanes" have steep descents lasting over 1 - 2 miles and you can get a great workout on the uphill. Some of the drawbacks of riding here are the lack of single track and technical areas. Also, many of the trails are marked for hikers only, so stay off those trails. |
