Henry Hagg Lake
Hagg Lake in September.
Hagg Lake is one of my favorite places to ride.   It is near the town of Forest Grove and approximately 50-60 minutes west of the city of Portland. You can do the 15 mile loop around the lake in about 2 hours and then go for a swim in the lake afterwards.   The trail has many brief up and downs but no extreme climbs or decents.  There are some technical areas but they are few and far between The trail is mostly single track all the way around the lake except for the dam.   Fantastic place to take the family for a picinic or go fishing.   One of the major drawbacks to biking here is that the trail is clay and gets extemely muddy in the winter.  I would not recommend riding here until at least April or May when Oregon begins to dry out for the summer.
Frog Lake Buttes rating of difficulty:  5

Located on the west side of the Mt. Hood wilderness area, Frog Lake feels like a remote place to ride.  The trail head is actually directly off highway 26,  so acess is easy.  Summer is the only time to ride here because of its high elevation and alpine climate.  Closest major town is Hood River, Oregon.
