My Cat: Owen Nolan
Owen Nolan was named after the captain of the San Jose Sharks
Owen is quite possibly the sweetest cat in the entire world!  I picked him up from a San Francisco Animal Shelter Mobile Unit one day in mid-may of 2000, during my lunch break from work.  He was about 8 weeks old at the time.  His birthday has been deemed March 17th  by my Dad.  (Saint Patrick's day, because Owen seems like he is an Irish Cat and the real Owen Nolan was born in Ireland)
More about Owen:
Owen loves to play.  He can jump really high and he has been known to do backflips in the air when he is feeling exceptionally frisky.  He loves little fuzzy mice and whenever he gets them as a treat, he immediately chews the tail off of them.

Mattie: Owen's sister (by adoption)
When Owen was a kitten he grew up with Mattie (Named for Waltzing Matilda, because she hops around like a boxing kangaroo!) a Bengal kitten.
The two of them spent lots of time together.  Mattie is kind of a wild and  crazy cat.  She loved to torment Owen.  She would stalk him and attack him when he least expected it.  I don't think he ever realized that he was actually bigger than she.  He could have easily taught her a lesson or two about being polite.  He is too sweet natured to really mind too much.  One of his favorite pastimes (pictured here)  during the first 4 months was curling up in a ball and sucking on his own nipple.  It was a bit noisy but very adorable and eventually he grew out of it and learned to groom himself instead.
Things didn't change too much as they got bigger.  They may look like they are hugging in this picture, but only seconds before it was taken Mattie was trying to bite Owen's head.  Eventually, Owen and I moved away from Mattie.  It was difficult at first for them to be seperated, but it didn't take much time for Owen to adjust to life on his own, as the center of attention, with a house to himself!
Owen loves his new home.  He gets lots of attention from everyone in the family and he has lots of room to explore, play, and sleep.
Owen is not shy about asking for affection.  He loves to be loved and will ask for petting any time he can.
Its tough work being a cat (and a hockey player) especially such an adorable one.  To keep his catlike reflexes sharp, Owen takes lots of naps.  Even in his sleep SJ Sharkie is nearby- what a hockey fan!
