Honestly, you're gonna turn up a lot more stuff with a search in Dogpile or through my online landlord. The following links are just a starting point to finding out more about the artists discussed on this site, and they have the added advantage of containing little or no quasi-psychological pseudo-analysis of the music. The usual suspects are here (Air, Tortoise) as well as some bands who have flirted with the subconscious sound on at least one album (Radiohead, REM). Also linked are bands who are stylistically similar musically but still, for one reason or another, do not quite fit with this site's theory (please ignore the fact that "the Theory" page is still blank as this is written) Occasionally, you'll stumble across some officially sanctioned MP3s (and I'm sure you know where to go for the ones not on the up-and-up). Additionally, many of the official or record label sites have some streaming sound samples, and you can always try any of the major online music retailers, too. They're usually good for a few seconds of free lo-fi rock. So, anyway, don't get carpal tunnel syndrome from using the mouse. continue |
