Princesses, Dora and the ABCs!
Alison's second birthday was the year that her parents discovered the downside
of having a "Super Bowl Baby": you can't have her birthday party on Super Bowl Sunday. This
didn't seem like a big deal to us, but it means that "Super Bowl Saturday" is very
popular day to have a kid's birthday party. As we found out too late, you need to reserve a party
place months in advance if you want an indoor party. Next year, we'll know better.
Alison's favorite activities have changed quickly throughout the year. When she first learned to walk, she loved her walker as well as
the playground swings. Now, she loves playing with her two inch plastic Dora and Boots miniatures and her flute (as long as Mommy or Daddy plays the guitar).
She also loves catching bubbles in the backyard, playing her piano, looking at herself in the mirror and reading her books. She doesn't like it when people sing along to her
favorite songs.
Soon after her first birthday, Alison wanted to watch shows besides her Baby Einstein videos and Mommy and Daddy were more than happy to oblige.
We were happy to discover that Sesame Street quickly became Alison's new favorite show.
At first, Journey To Ernie was her favorite but she quickly switched to "The Count" and "Cookie Monster" when she
was learning her numbers and letters. By 20 months, though, Elmo was her favorite part of the show and has been
for several months. At this point, Elmo is the only part of Sesame Street that we show her, so we introduced
"Dora The Explorer" and she enjoys that even more than Elmo these days. Alison likes to watch "Barney" at her day care center, so she has
also become a big fan of that show as well.
