Odds & Ends
The three lures shown above were my first. I completed them in early May of 1990. I carved them with the aid of a hunting knife and hand-sanded them. I found a Philips screwdriver in a field and used it to bore holes for the glass eyes. Close inspection of the bottom two lures shows faint scales I made using the spray through netting technique pioneered by Creek Chub. Top lure is 6" length, center is 7" and bottom is 8 1/4". These lures are unleaded.
6" Frisky jerkbait in "Firefly" finish. I was out walking and saw fireflies all over. I got to thinkin', (always dangerous for me to do), would a jerkbait be a good night fishing lure if it had a glowing tail? I went home and painted some black bodies, for a nice silhouette, with glowing tails like a firefly. I don't know if anyone used it for night muskies, but it sure worked well in daylight! Glass eyes also glow.
Here is an early Frisky jerkbait in channel cat finish. There are two smaller whiskers, on the underside of the nose, in addition to the main whiskers. All of my wooden lures were signed. I generally signed them underneath and to the rear.

Here is a genuine Minnesota Snow Bat! I probably made less than twenty of these.

This hot pink "Lady's Bat" was a present for my mom on her 75th birthday.
One of only two jointed jerkbaits that I made.
