Reflections

Divide a notebook up into sections or chapters. We will use this as our memory book. As you write, one memory will trigger another and another. Jot these down under the appropriate heading in the memories book, we will expand on them matter. On researching ways to write a life story I found different ways to layout the story:

  • Write about the stages in ones life:
Baby Baby 0-5 years
School Years - Infants/Primary Childhood 6-12 years
High School Teenage Years 13-20 years
The Big Wide World Young Adult 20-30 years
The Next Generation Adult 30-50/60 years
The Later Years Retirement 60 + years

  • Write about subjects:
Birth Family (Parents, G. Parents) Influences
Toys Jobs Special Moments
School Fashions Traditions
Pets Marriage & Children Death & Loosing Loved Ones
  Important Days in History

Write on only one side of the page in your book and only on every second line. This makes it easier to squeeze in another memory as it comes to mind.

You don’t have to answer all the following questions. These questions are just a guide to get you thinking up memories. Remember to always have your memory book and pen with you. You never know when or where something comes to mind.
