Bottom of Form 2 Randall, Just saw your post from last November. This may or may not reach you. The first name BLAKE occurs in the Carlton family of Craven County NC and also in the Carlton family of Surry County NC. Has to be more than a coincidence. Some have speculated that Richard Carlton of Craven came from Scotland after the battle of Culloden. Can't be, because he was there a few years earlier. Others trace him back to Pennsylvania. This is undocumented. There was a Carlton family from Ireland in Chester County PA at the right time, but that line has been fully traced and no Richard. I think both the NC Carlton families were originally from King & Queen County, Virginia. I can't document this, K&Q records were lost in the civil war. But the first of that family, a Christopher Carlton, was in Virginia by 1684, living in K&Q next to the farm of William BLAKE. BY 1704 there were several families of descendants of Christopher, but all info an the next generations is lost. That's the best I can do. I live in Richmond and think I've seen every scrap surviving of the old K&Q records. There just isn't enough left. By the way, if you ever ran across Blake Carlton's Service Station in Chattanooga 30+ years age, he was my mother's brother. Bob Davidson
