I may be on the wrong path but, I have a book from my Grandmother that has research done about 30 years ago. Let me just state what it says, do with it as you wish.
Richard Carlton (ca 1720- ca 1790) married Mary unknown. Richard is listed in the 1739 North Carolina Colonial Record, Chowan County, and received a 300 acre land grant in Craven County, Province of North Carolina, 4 June 1740 from King George III of England. He was a foot soldier commanded by Captain Thomas Graves in Craven County, January 1751. His will was presented 6 May 1790 in Craven County, North Carolina naming the following issue: Richard, Thomas, Blake, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, Lydia, Samuel and Frankey. Another son, John, whose name was omitted in recording the will but whose name was included and listed first in the original will, which was found in the Archives Library in Raleigh, NC.
Blake Carlton (1750 -December 1783) son of Richard and Mary, married 23 August 1773, to Feriba Heath (1750 - ). When Blake Carlton, Sr. died in Craven Co NC, his wife Feriba was named administrator of his estate alon with Thomas Heath and Frederick Heath. Feriba then married 26 July 1795 #2 husband John Carmack, ........
