| To see pics of the car after click here !!! To see pics of the kit click here !!! I had a shop install this for me. It took them 10 hours to install this. Here is the parts that went into this swap: TRW 5658 springs - originally for an 87 Chevy Blazer, AT, no A/C, 580 lbs. Robert Adams 12" kit - go here for details - the following comes ASSEMBLED !!! 2 custom made upper control arms for use with B-body spindles 2 ball joints , 2 outer wheel bearings , 2 inner wheel bearings 2 grease seals, 2 dust shields New GM part, 2 spindle nuts New GM part, 2 spindle washers New GM part 2 refurbished/modified Spindles , 2 1LE Rotors 2 rebuilt calipers , 4 Wagner Pads , 4 Caliper bolts Global West Del-A-Lums in lower control arms New front end components from Robert - Idler arm, Drag link, 2 outer tie rods, 2 inner tie rods,2 adjuster sleeves, 2 lower ball joints, 2 upper ball joints New rear drums, shoes, and wheel cylinders from Robert Rebuilt B-body master cylinder from Robert Other: 147k shocks (Bilsteins in spring) 147k sway bar bushings/stock size bar (Poly in spring) 147k steering box (not sure bout this yet) 147k rag joint/intermediate shaft (will be rebuilt soon) 147k master cylinder (b-body unit not yet installed) 147k dual chamber booster 147k rear sway bar BMR rear boxed lowers (poly/rubber) BMR adjustable uppers (rubber/stock) Alignment: 3* DS, 3.5* PS caster (there is a difference because of the drivers weight) -1/2* camber 1/32" toe in I must say though, that the 5658's are definitly fine for daily driving !!! They are very smooth, and with the b-body spindle lower the car about 1". Let me tell you, this car stays FLAT in a corner. I have definitly exceeded the limit of my stock size tires (Dunlop GT Qualifiers). It brings a smile to my face everytime I drive now! The difference in stopping power is awesome. I can't wait to install the b-body master cylinder though as the pedal is a little soft, but you may like that. Also, the front wheels do stick out a little more, probably about 1/4 to 3/8" per side. The only thing I would do different if I could do it again would be to possibly use 2" drop b-body spindles, and stiffer springs like the 5660. I also wouldn't hesitate to go w/ 7/8" rear wheel cylinders from a manual brake 80's S10. One more thing, if you don't have the dual chamber booster, it is recommended you convert. All 87/88's came with it stock, and it was used sporadically before that. Here is the price breakdown when this was installed (10/01) TRW 5658 - Advance auto -> $55 brake lines - Autozone -> $20 12" kit - Robert Adams -> $670 DelALums - Global West -> $120 FE rebuild - Robert Adams -> $135 rear brakes - Robert Adams -> $50 B-body MC - Robert Adams -> $35 Install -> 10 hours Alignment -> $50 If you notice, the price of the necessary components to do this job is $670, compared to Baer's $1000+. The money I saved from going this route went into rebuilding and improving my 150k suspension and getting my rear brakes done too! |
