Game1
Thanks to a stellar recruiting effort during the offseason, the Angels enter the spring season with an even better team than the fall squad that was the tournament runner-up (Welcome to Alex, Blair and Grace!) That, plus the absence of Asst. Coach Bosley resulted in a 6-0 victory over the Striking Eagles. Originally, I thought Holly had said Screaming Eagles, and I was proud that we had so soundly defeated a fictional college team from Minnesota. In any case, a great start.
Note: Snack review unavailable to to scheduling conflict with the Kingsmill Member-Guest Golf Tornament.
Game 2
Coach Bosley returns to find the team has blossomed in his absence. Hannah "The Franchise" Jesensky scored two goals in the time it takes me to unfold a lawnchair, and Coach Moss became worried that such a fast start would hamper our chances of getting decent odds in Vegas on future games. The Cyberladies tied the game at 3 late in the second half, but two goals later, the Angels had secured their second win.
Snack: I felt that Gatorade was the perfect beverage on such a hot day, but the Chex Mix was a bad choice given the high humidity. Plus, here are now 4 pounds of Chex Mix crumbs under my back seat.
"Game 3
Ali and Frazier, Ohio State and Michigan, Heidi and Omorosa... these rivalries pale in comparison to the Angels and the Heartbreakers. Would this be the game where the Angels could break the dreaded Heartbreaker Curse, believed to have begun during a Kanawa Social when Charlie refused to pump the keg while Tyler Shands was getting a beer? Alas, it was not to be. With the plodding predictibility of "Groundhog Day II" the game ended in a 3-1 loss. It was, however, an extremely well-played game and the girls should be extremely proud. Early indications are that Game 8 on May 22 will be picked up by ESPN nationally. Hillary Duff will perform at halftime.
