Bachelor Bob at Borders, with Joe?
Click Here to watch a Quicktime movie clip of last night's show
Yes, that is correct my friends.
Bob Guiney played an acoustic set at Borders Books, Music, & Cafe in Cleveland Heights last night (3/22/04) and invited Joe to come along and play the guitar during  "Girlfriend." Joe accepted, and told a limited number of JFK fans that he would be in town for the show. If he would have told everyone that he would be at Borders, as you and I know, controversy could have easily stricken the JFK community again, so he made the wise decision.

I went to the show, and I can honestly say Bob Guiney has to be one of the nicest guy's I've ever met. As a July For Kings fan, I'd like to recommend seeing him live. He is a great person, I know most of you may not think his collaborated version of  "Girlfriend" isn't as good as Joe's, but give him a chance. I did, and I do not regret it at all. Bachelor Bob even told the audience of how Joe was a part of the very talented band July For Kings, and that everyone needed to check them out. He's already promoted Joe/July for Kings on The View, and now, he's promoting them more extensively. If that doesn't please you, I don't know what else you'd like him to do. Since Bob has promoted July For Kings on numerous occasions, I'll do the same for him..... you can listen to his version of  "Girlfriend", plus 2 others off of 3 Sides at
www.bobguiney.com.

I took a bunch of pictures from the whole evening last night. You can check them out
HERE. Also on that page, is a Quicktime movie collage of last nights performance, along with some clips of the old school "Girlfriend" video.. The JFK fans that were in attendence for the show included Rebecca, Lili (of Phizzly Lager), and my friend Mikey (of Byrd Avenue.) We all had an amazing time, and I'm glad I was able to go.

New Biographies & Joe's Side Project Ya'll
I added a biography for both Dan and Drew in the
Bios section. You'll notice that their bio's are a little longer than Joe's, Trav's, or T's. The reason being, I felt like since most people don't really know those two all that well yet, I'd make them longer so you could learn a little more about their backgrounds. That,  or, I accidentally wrote way too much and didn't feel like snipping them down. Whatever excuse pleases you, pleases me too. Both biographies are pretty interesting so I'd advise you to check them out.
I also updated the links section a little...  be sure to check out
Autumn Colors... it's probably my favorite fan site of them all. After you read up on Drew and Dan here, be sure to read about them on her site, because she has a good amount of information which I don't have. Very cool site.

No news on JFK for the moment. Recently though, Joe recorded a couple of songs with a side project named, ALLOS. More information about who took part in it, along with the songs, and some rave reviews, can be found
HERE. It's definitely a different direction for Joe, sporting a harder rock and roll feel to the songs. You can listen to "Collapsing Machine" or "Turnstyle" by clicking the respective links. They're both sweet, check 'em out.

"So here's the problem with the music industry: People need
you more than you need them. You know sometimes you don't want your song to be a hit, you just want it to be a song."

Tablature Galore
I updated the Tablature section again, this time with 4 new songs: two off of Swim, and two unreleased songs. Tom and Ian once again contributed these new tabs.
Ian was nice enough to take some time out to make some in depth tablature of  "Start Again" and "Bed of Ashes". While Tom has been figuring the basic riffs of such new songs such as "Just Right" and "End of the World". All of these new tabs, plus more great July For Kings guitar work, can be found in the Tablature section by clicking HERE.

Old SWIM CD's

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, hopefully this site will kick back into gear once summer starts up. If you haven't noticed (which I'm sure you have), the official July For Kings webpage (
www.julyforkings.com) has been redesigned. The band will go back into the studio near the end of the summer to record their follow up album to Swim. Over the course of the summer, they will be touring all over Ohio and some other places as well, so be sure to check out a live show or two. See if they're visiting near you!

Also, I am now making it apparent that I
DO offer to burn the old SWIM era CD's for anyone who wants them. I've always done it, but only for the people who email me asking about it, now I'm making it public though. If you do not have Safe Unless or The Laughter & The Noise, I can do one of two things for you. The easiest way being, sending me $5 to cover the shipping charges, and I'll send out those two CD's, along with a bonus Unreleased CD Mix which I know everyone will enjoy. I'd like to let everyone know I'm not going to profit from this, with the remaining money from each CD burning I do, I'm going to give that money straight to the band. So if you'd like to send more than $5, go for it, because the band will get that green. The other option is to do a B&P. If you do not know how to do a B&P, or for that matter, even know what it is, Click Here, and become enlightened. I'm open to both options. If you want those Indy releases, or if you want to talk about how you can get your CD's, just email me at [email protected]. You can see a nifty advertisement for my offer down at the bottom right hand of the screen. These CD's are not in stores, nor are they even produced anymore. So if you want copies of them, just drop me a line.

Phantasy
A couple for friends and I attended the show in Lakewood, Ohio at the Phantasy Theatre last night. If you're wondering, it was as amazing as any of us could have ever imagined. July For Kings rocked the house down with some old songs plus a lot new tunes that all sound absolutely incredible. That was the first show I had seen with the full entourage of members, so I can now say that both Drew and Dan together kick some major ass. Throughout the night,
Lili and I took some pictures as well as some video clips of the newer songs, which include: "Amy", "Blue Eyes", and "Dr. Roosevelt". They turned out pretty good. You can check the pictures and the movies out... HERE... or by clicking the 'Pictures' link on the left.

Also, the July For Kings picnic has now been scheduled. It will be on July 9th in Cincinnati, Ohio. It sounds like it will probably be at Eden Park again, which is located near The Mad Frog. Everything should work out just fine. The only thing that will need to cooperate is the weather, which did not do so last year. Fun will be had by all though... so if you're in Cincy on July 9th, be sure to come to the picnic. You can find more information as it's announced at
www.jfkarmy.com.

Picnic & Mad Frog 2004
On the 9th, the annual July For Kings Picnic was held at Eden Park in Cincinnati. Good times were had by all. People came all the way from states such as New York, California, Michigan, and Indiana to rock out, eat, and have a good time with some fans and the band. Overall, about 30 people showed up, on what would be one of the better picnics to date. Although the weather seemed to duplicate last year's muggy, drizzly, and humid occasion, no one seemed to mind much. It was a nice turnout, and a fun 'nic.

Proceeding the Picnic was the show at The Mad Frog, located only a couple miles away from Eden Park. The place was packed, dense, and hot... as hell. That doesn't mean the show wasn't amazing though, because it was that... and much much more (as always). The band played 17 songs, sticking to a straight up set, which was pretty similar to many of the more recent shows they have played. The concert was awesome, the band was awesome, the whole day was just awesome. There are a bunch of pictures from the show, a group shot of everyone who was at the picnic, and many others, and they can all be found by either clicking
HERE, or the Pictures link to your left. You can also find two movie clips from the show on the same page. Enjoy.

Odeon Pictures, One By One Tabs, & New Song Lyrics
The pictures from the
88.9 WSTB (one kick ass radio station) Live On The River show can be found in the pictures link. They turned out pretty good. The concert rocked as usual. It was fun.
Recently I tabbed out my own version of
One By One. It's not exactly what the dudes play, but it's close, and it sounds okay. You can find that in the tabs section. I'd advice you to try it out, it isn't bad.
Oh, and this isn't really an update for this site, but on
Autumn Colors, Katie has added song lyrics for Amy, Dr. Roosevelt, Blue Eyes, and (Love) Like That. They all kick. Check them out. And lastly, I updated the lyric page with all of the unreleased lyrics compiled from Autumn Colors and NormalLife.Org.

The New CD: Nostalgia
July For Kings is releasing a new CD for the first time since SWIM came out in 2002. The new 7 song EP, named
Nostalgia, will drop December 26th at a show in Middletown. The CD should be available online within the first few weeks of January for everyone to order, but it will be a limited release, so buy it as soon as you can. The first single off the album is "Blue Eyes". You can vote for the song on AlternativeAddiction's website in the Top 20 Countdown. Other songs on the disc include Invincible, Float Away, One By One, Like That, The Distance, and Just Right. The album will be used a tool by the band to showcase their talent to different labels. They are currently shopping around for a new label after the collapse of MCA.

In site news, I have updated the lyrics and tablature pages. The lyrics page is now working nicely. You can check out all of the lyrics from Nostalgia
HERE. You can also vote for you favorite song off of the album there.... and soon, you may be able to find comments on each song from Joe. The tablature page is still in shambles. Some of the Nostalgia tabs are up now though, including: The Distance, One By One, and Just Right. Be sure to check them out; and be sure to go to the CD Release Show on the 26th.

Invincible Cover
Recently, the band
Seraphims Curfew out of Springfield, Missouri recorded their very own version of "Invincible" with permission from Joe. You can listen to their cover of the song HERE. It's pretty good. You can find out more about Seraphims Curfew on their website, or you can listen to a couple of songs from them on purevolume.com.

In July For Kings news, the band has stated that they are going to try and release the well awaited E.P. before Christmas. The E.P. should include about 4-7 songs, including One By One, Just Right, and Invincible among others. As far as the tour goes, the band has a mini East Cost stretch coming up.

Interview, Lyrical Meanings, & Pictures
Recently Joe did an interview surrounding the topic of the bands latest E.P. with Andrew Ellis.  You can read the entire interview by clicking the graphic below:

In the interview, Joe answers twelve questions ranging from his songwriting to the recording of the album. The interview also includes Joe's lyrical interpretations for each song off of Nostalgia. So you can now find the song explanations for the E.P. on the lyric page of this site. You can go there by clicking this link:
Nostalgia Lyrics & Explanations

Also included in this update are some pictures I took from the CD Release Show. You can find those by clicking the
Pictures link. The album is absolutely incredible as expected. If you do not have a copy yet, don't worry... The E.P. should be for sale online at CDBaby, Napster, and iTunes within the first few weeks of January.
