CONCLUSION

In this project, we have presented a silicon cochlea model built by a cascade of second-order sections with diferentiators. Although we just built 50 sections of model, (in real world there are 3000 inner hair cells), we demonstrated that the silicon cochlea model functions biological cochlea function. A cascade of second-order sections like basilar membrane is delay line and distributed low pass filters. The diferetiator like inner hair cell detects the displacement of basilar membrane and output the sharp tuning signal. From the model result, we have seen that the different taps output different frequency depending on the place of x.

From this project, we can more understand the auditory system and develop silicon cochlea model to more complicated auditory system and find the nature solution to the hearing problem.
