After understanding the many things that are included in Jewish Writing, perhaps it is important to understand the things that are not included in this project.
- Jewish Writing is not the place to tell us about yourself
- Exception: When you submit your article for critiquing, do add a biography
- See - that means that we really do want to know about you
- Since Jewish Writing deals with the writing process, we exclude everything else
- Don't tell us how experienced you really are
- Don't tell us how unfortunate you are, even though you're such a good writer
- Don't tell us how wonderful you are. We'll discover that when we critique your work
- Don't tell us how unlucky you are,
- Don't tell us that you deserve a break
- There are various other things that we don't want to know
- We don't want you to tell us about your latest article or book or play or what-have-you that just got published. We know you are very excited about it. However, all of us on this group are writers, and our emailboxes will burst if we post everybody's new publication!
- We don't want to review your wonderful publications - but you can submit them to Jewish Reviews
In short, we're interested in the writing process, but we're not interested in the results of that process.
Thus, youve already published your fine work? Thats great. Let's talk about your next publication, not what you've already done.
