Back to ListingsThe Bourne SupremacyStarring: Matt Damon, Franka Potente, Brian Cox, Julia Stiles, Joan Allen In the sequel to The Bourne Identity, Jason (Matt Damon) and Marie (Franka Potente) have been living happily off the radar until a CIA operation goes wrong and a rival agent (Karl Urban - Eomer from LOTR) comes after them. Bourne, believing the CIA is after him again, chooses to retaliate as he promised them he would. He just wanted to be left alone. I clearly remember deciding to see The Bourne Identity as a last minute, it's at the cheap theatre, why the heck not kind of choice. I also remember being quite pleasantly surprised by it and I knew I'd want to see The Bourne Supremacy when it came out. I was not disappointed. The high-octane action is very thrilling and the soundtrack is an excellent match. The camera work is a bit bizarre, in that it is very choppy and unsteady. But it matches the style of the film as you feel like you are in the fight or the chase. I'm not sure how the movie would come across if you haven't seen The Bourne Identity as I think it would help to know the original players and the few things Bourne learned previously. I think you might spend the part of the movie actually involving plot going "Who? What? Huh?". My only negative thought during the movie was the highly unrealistic car chase. Although extremely exciting, I kept wondering how many cars they went through as there is no way Bourne's vehicle could have possibly remained road worthy. That was breaking my action movie rule though, in that you can never question the method in which the hero gets away. I really had fun watching this movie and I like Matt Damon in the action hero/spy mode. I might not recommend this one to you if you are prone to motion sickness, but it was worth the Friday night admission price. Rating: I ran back from the washroom as I didn't want to miss anything. | |
