christians in Jammu & Kashmir is less than 1%. Total population of Jammu and Kashmir is
around 5 million.
Notes:
- About 58% of all christians in India are found in South India while another 22% live in the North East.
- The Southern state of Kerala is the cradle of christianity in India and is the home of Roman catholics, Latin catholics and the orthodox churches.
- The 2 southern most states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu account for nearly 45% of all christians in India.
- Most Indian christians(about 50%) are of Malayali(Kerala) origin.
- Most Indian christians are Roman Catholics(about 10 million), the next are Latin Catholics(about 3.5 million) and then come Protestants(about 3.4 million). There are also about 2 million Orthodox christians in India.
