On Saturday, we got up at about 7:00am. After we got ready and ate breakfast, we went to our prayer trees where we were to pray about everything that we were thankful for. During that time, we were to not ask God for anything, but spend the entire time thanking Him for everything that we had. Then we got together with a partner, I went with Justin, and we read Acts 8-13 out loud and discussed it. Then we got back together and discussed it as a group. Then we went on the nature walk where there were signs along the way asking us to answer questions. We ate lunch and then had an hour of free time. Then I did my devotional, which I wasnt too happy with. Everybody liked the metaphor part and I thought I did a good job of that, but my delivery of the rest wasnt as good as I would have liked it.
Then we had to try to go across a log. The catch was that the log was only big enough for one person, but two of us had to cross in opposite directions at the same time. Thus, there was a point where we would meet and have to figure out a way to get by each other without falling off the log. Jacob and me were partners and we were the first two to make it across. Jacob laid down on the log while I jumped over him. Others tried to swing out and around each other, while others tried to side step by each other, plus many other ways, but our method was the only one that ever worked.
After that, we went to the area by the Wall where some of the guys had set up a big tractor tire about 4ft off the ground. The object was for the entire Youth Group to get through the tire without touching the tire. The catch was that we all had to start on one side, and once we got onto the other side we had to stay there. We managed to pass everyone through until we got to the last two. Then Tyler S volunteered to be the very last person and passed Tyler C (the other Tyler) through the tire. Now the last person has no one to pass him through so he had to back up and make a running dive through the tire. He was all psyched up and ready to do it. While he was getting ready for his big run, Ms A and Ms K said, Hey, lets just drop him, and everybody was whispering about and we all decided that it would be funny and that we should do it. Tyler started his big run as everybody had their hands stretched out to catch him, and as he dived through the tire, everybody dropped their hands. It was very funny!
Then, while we were at The Wall, we decided to try doing it without any props to get it out of the way. We didnt do it with everyone this time though. A few people chose to sit out. While we were at the wall, Ms C. was hitting me with a small stick, which Justin had given Ms D, which was an extra stick from the sticks for his devotional. I grabbed it from her, and in trying to get it away from her it got broken. Ms C, Ms. D, and Ms E, were mad at me for that and spoke to me very rudely about it. I got upset over it and decided not to join in on the volleyball game that everyone was playing. Instead, I went off to the campfire area by my tree to think and to pray. I needed a little time to cool down and get everything straight in my head, as well as to pray over what happened. We were due back at 3:30pm. Chad took all the girls to the gazebo to talk with them privately, while we had some free time. Then Chad gathered the guys together to talk to us privately. He shared his personal feelings with us, telling each of us what we were to him and how we affected his life. He told me that he has seen me progress very much since I first came to church several months before and went on the first trip. He was telling me that some of the Youth Group have said that it is obvious that I study every night (I dont exactly study every night, but I do study quite a bit.) Then we ate dinner and hung out until it got dark enough for the campfire.
At the campfire, we shared what we were thankful for and some of our favorite memories of youth group trips. Many of the girls cried when they shared. I thought I was going to cry when I shared, but for some reason, I didnt even start to cry. At times now, I have more emotion than I used to, but for some reason, I still have a lot of the same coldness as I used to many times. This was one of those times. It was great though. Everyone was sharing things from their hearts and it was awesome. When we all shared, we sang a few song and then roasted marshmallows and made smores.
Then, WWIII started. The feud between Mr T, Ms A, and Ms K erupted. Ms A put melted marshmallows in Mr T's sleeping bag, so he made up a concoction of banana pudding, chocolate syrup, brownies, and whatever else he could find and managed to sneak up on Ms A and pour it all over her. Ms A had also smeared marshmallows all over the door handles. Ms A then got some shampoo while he got some chocolate syrup and they fought it out. Finally, Ms D joined in. She got the fire hose and started spraying Mr T and anyone else that she even suspected of trying to get Ms A. She even sprayed me when I was trying to negotiate with her. At first, I was playing a double agent, then I just wanted to be neutral, and while I was neutral, she sprayed me a little. Then I tried to make a deal with her that I would try to get Mr T out if she wouldnt spray me. While I was talking to her and it seemed to be going well, she turned the hose on me and soaked me I was really close to her at the time and she got me good. At that point, I stayed as far away from her as I could. When the war finally came to an end, I changed and then headed up to the basketball court where I met up with Mallory, Lisa, Tyler, and one of the other guys and we hung out for a little while. Then I went back to the cabin and settled in for the night.
On Sunday, we got up around 7am again. This time Chad let the guys wake up the girls. Justin went in and started singing Rise and Shine and Give God the Glory, while clapping loudly. Margaret jumped off the top bunk on top of him and started attacking him as he ran out the front door. Once everybody was up, we had breakfast and started to clean everything up. We had our Sunday Morning worship service, which Justin gave his devotional for and Jacob led songs for. I had to do the prayer for the fruit of the vine, which wasnt very good. After the service, we went off to our prayer trees for the last time. We were to pray for about half an hour straight and then read an epistle of our choosing. I actually read two epistles; I read First and Second Thessalonians. Then we finished cleaning up and got on the bus to go home. Chad treated us to lunch at Olive Garden. We got home around 3pm. |
