We all had to be at the church by 10:00am Friday morning to take the bus up to CFBC (Central Florida Bible Camp) in Mt. Dora. I knew this was going to be a good trip. Unfortunately, many people decided not to come, including Laura who was sick and Meagan who just didnt come.
Anyhow, we left around 10am and we stopped at a McDonalds on the way for lunch. We got to camp in the early afternoon. We stayed at the Greeson Cabin. The girls were on one side and the guys were on the other, and we had a little living area, which included tables, chairs, couches, and a kitchen. We spent a few hours getting everything set and checking out the area. We started a game of volleyball, while others played some basketball.
The first activity that we did was a little scavenger hunt with bible verses as the clues. Then Chad sent us off to find our prayer trees. He asked us to pray that the trip would be a success and that we would grow closer to each other and stuff like that and then read Acts 1-7. The tree that I chose turned out not to be too good, so I chose another one the second time, which was just perfect. The second tree was in the middle of the woods away from everywhere it took me about 10mins to get to it taking the shortcut. It was nearby the campfire that was in the woods (not the campfire that we used.) It was quite and actually very comfortable. When we got back, we discussed what we had read.
After that, we went to The Wall. The Wall was a 12ft wall that we had to get everyone over. We were allowed to use the rope and anything else we needed to get over the wall on Friday. Chad told us that we were going to do it again with nothing but ourselves to get over it. The first couple people got up quite easily and then were able to help others get over the wall by pulling them over. Our Youth Group has quite a few girls in it and many of them didnt want to do it. But many of them did get over quite easily. Three of the girls had a very tough time getting over the wall. Ms. B was the most difficult person to get over the wall (even though she was quite small.) Ms. B was even crying by the time she was done. She had a lot of trouble getting her legs over the wall even with Justin and Margaret pulling her up over. We even had a big tire and a couple boards for her to stand on to make it as easy as possible. After she had tried quite a few times, she wanted to give up. She was saying, I cant do it, but we wouldnt let her quit. We kept assuring her that she can do it and that she doesnt have to be afraid because Justin and Margaret wouldnt drop her. Everyone was encouraging her and telling her that she could do it. Finally, we convinced her to try it one last time. This time Margaret managed to reach over and grab onto her leg while they were pulling her over and she pulled her over. Ms. B was crying when she finally got over. It was a real struggle for her, but she made it over The Wall.
I used The Wall in my devotional the next day. The Wall represents the obstacles (trials/ problems) in our lives that seem like too much for us to overcome. If we try to take on those problems by ourselves, we will most likely fail. The two people on the top trying to get people over the Wall represent God. Just like Justin and Margaret, God is there to help us get over the walls in our life. He extends His hand, and if we trust Him, He will get us over the problems in our lives. He will not let go of us if we hold onto Him, and if we put our trust in Him, then we can do anything and get over any obstacle. The people at the bottom of The Wall represent our brothers and sisters in Christ. They are there to encourage us to remind us to keep our faith in God and that He will get us over the Wall. If it werent for the people at the bottom of The Wall, Ms B would have given up. It can be easy to give up, when the walls in our life seem too difficult to get over, but if we seek encouragement from our brothers and sisters then we can stay strong. We must encourage one another at all times just like we encouraged Ms B. The people at the bottom were saying, You can do it dont be afraid they wont drop youetc and that is what we need to do in life. We must seek encouragement and encourage one another. We all need a word of encouragement when obstacles seem too difficult to get over. Encourage one another and remind each other that God will always be there to help you get over the walls in your life and that he wont let you fall, if you reach out and grab His hand put faith in Him.
After that, we played a little football and ate dinner. Then we had the rest of the night to ourselves. We had a little fun when getting ready to go to bed. The sink is on the outside of the bathroom as well as the light to the bathroom. The light controls both the bathroom light and the sink light and is by the sink, which as I said is on the outside of the bathroom itself. Keith was trying to take a shower Friday night before bed while Justin was brushing his teeth by the sink. While Keith was in the bathroom, he started a little routine of turning the light off. He continued throughout the entire time Keith was trying to a shower. He would nonchalantly walk by the light and flip it off as though he was merely turning it off. All the while, he kept brushing his teeth. Keith would shout turn the light on, and Justin would turn it on and when Keith said, Thank you he would turn it back off as though he took the thank you to mean he was done with it. He continued to nonchalantly turn it off and on the entire time and he kept brushing his teeth for the 20 minutes or so that Keith was taking a shower. It was quite funny, but it is something that you just had to be there to really get how funny it was. |
