Grupo Capoeira Brasil
Mestre Paulão Holland
Capoeira is an Brasilian Martial Art, it is a combination of acrobatic, dance, fighting defence and making music. I'm trying to learn it since May 1997

Mestre Marreta (Utrecht) This picture was taken during my first training of Mestre Marreta in Utrecht (The only reason my leg is up so high is because I already practice Ballet for 7 Years (shhh, my little secret)
Too bad this was only a workshop for 3 days, because I liked so much, and in the town were I live there was no teacher, so back to practicing ballet...
But than a collegue told me that there was going to be a workshop in my hometown too. I was very happy, but she didn't know were it was, so my search finding that workshop began!
I think that I called at least 20 companies and sportschools... nobody even heared about Capoeira (so first I had to explain to all those people wat it was)
And finaly I found a shop where the poster with dates/places and stuff was still hanging on the window... so I asked when it was... And they told me "Yesterday" *grmpfl*
That was too bad, but I called the number of the school were the workshop would be, and finaly after talking to some people over there I got to someone (Roderik) who had a number of someone who could give me more information... so I got on the phone with Bjorn, he was also very enthousastic and asked me to come to Tilburg (a town near me) to practice... and that is the story how I became a member of Grupo Capoeira Brasil!

The next pictures were taken at a workshop of Mestre Boneco (who flew all the way from Brasil to Holland only for this workshop)
(from left to right) Mestre Zebrinha, Contra Mestre Rato and Mestre Boneco Workshop Mestre Boneco (1)

Au sem mãos During one of the workshops, we were trying to do Au sem mãos, something without hands...
