The first country song I ever listend to was "Standing Outside the Fire" by Garth Brooks and I was hooked! I ended up memorizing that whole Garth Brooks cd; and then all of a sudden, low and behold, I discovered CMT and it was good! I remember it well. It was the summer before I started high school and Shania Twain was on top of the charts introducing to the world her new hip style and changing the face of country music as everybody knew it! Then before I knew it I was a country fanatic!
I fell in love with Bryan White and Paul Brant and that just increased my appetite for the steel guitars and the violins! It got to the point where I would rush home from my summer job and the first thing I'd do was turn on the tv. My parents tried to convince themselves that it was "just a phase" I was going through; but sadly my pathetic obsession with country music continued onto my school year, affecting my grades and all other aspects of my life!
My parents decided that they would utilize my country energy into performing. It worked; then began the start of my journey through the music biz!
At first I sang wherever I could locally, until people in my home town would refer to me as "the singer". Since Schreiber, Ontario only has about 1500 people it wasn't long until everyone knew who to call if they wanted entertainment. Through the support of my family and friends I gradually began to perform in front of bigger crowds resulting in extending my name further than the boundries of Schreiber! I performed at the Thunder Bay Italian Festival and at the Mother's Day Telethon, which benefits people suffering from cystic fibrosis. I entered a singing contest in Sault St. Marie and placed third, bringing home a gorgeous black acoustic guitar!
Then one very magical day, I met my good friend Shelley Buffitt! She took me under her wing and showed me the tricks and trades of the music industry. She told me what I had to do to get myself heard and thus began the making of my debut album.
Making the album was an experience and a half. Never before did I realize just how much work goes into making a cd. Shelley landed me an excellent producer; who we'll refer to as "the mad Producer" Randall Counsins. (Look up music lover in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Randall!) Randall then hooked me up with "the Band" Mark Laforme, Steve Petrie, Neil Nickafor, Jesse O'Brien, Sean O'Grady and Mark Severn. Shelley, Randall and the band are all my reasons why the cd turned out the way it did! They are all amazing musicians and my recording experience would not have been the same without them!
Well, all these events have sculpted the person and performer that I am today! I can only hope that I can forever, continue working on something I love so much! Music is a big part of everyone and if one person is affected by the songs I sing than I know I am on the right path! I hope that you enjoy your stay here at this website and make sure you drop me a line! I'd love to hear from you!
