This project is one version of many business cards created for a Digital Publication class. This business card went through many changes to become the piece it is today. Originally I added textured to the type face on JessEFX I elected to remove it along with the brain in the light bulb because after looking at it as a whole I felt it was overwhelming. I now feel the business card is more effective and keeps your focus on the message while at the same time giving some visual appeal.
This portrait was created in a Digital Illustration class by using Adobe photoshop with the assistance of a wacom board. the objective was to choose a person, whether celerberty or not, that inspires and create a digital portrait of them. I chose a women name Janelle Monae.
This project was created in a Digital Illustration class. The objective was to create a magazine cover for “MAG”. We had to create the cover using a trending topic of our choice. I chose to do my cover on “Black Lives Matter”, while at the same time honoring movements that happened as far back as the 70’s.
This project was made in a Adobe illustrator. The objective was to make a logo for an imaginary company that was previously created in the same class. The company I created was makeup company that hypothaticaly was created in Harlem New York. When I first created the logo I started out with three different fonts. I eventually decided to cut it dowm to only two different fonts . I made the actual name of the company “Sweet Face” one font, and made the word Boutique another fonr. I want ed the logo to have a fun , flirty yet elegant look and feel.
The Plakatstil Design Poster. The Plakatstil Poster was a style most popular in the 1900 through 1930. The style consisted of bold lettering a simple central image, and bold flat colors. For the project, we had to create a candy, or candy bar, come up with a name and create a poster for it. I came up with Coca Twist a chocolate bar with cookie and caramel. I first decided to place the chocolate bar on a gold plate to give the bar a bit of color to sit on without competing with the color of lettering I chose. I decided to go with a neutral background so that everything would stay in same sort of color scheme. After everything was completed I decided to add some texture to the background just for a personal touch.
The third project I chose was a logo design. For this project, the professor chose a real up and coming company at the time that we had to research, read and find out what they were looking for in a logo. Then I proceeded to create what I envisioned for the logo, based on the clients wants and needs. I went for a bold and playful, yet minimal style of logo. I wanted something that relayed the message of the company, but a design that wouldn’t be dated.
This project was to create a poster using simple images and Type to relay a message. I chose to use Adobe Illustrator to create this poster, I felt that it would be the best approach to create the poster. I chose to illustrate what I thought would best describe the survarity of Global Warming .
This two-page spread goes along with two othe projects in the portfolio. We had to create a company, and create a logo, business cards, brochures, and also the two-page spread that I turned in. My company was a makeup company under the name Sweet Face. For the two-page spread I wanted something creative, artistic, yet elegant. The common thread in my work is my minimalist approach with something bold and eye catching added. There are times when a playful feel is wanted but a touch of elegance is always necessary in my work.
This project had about three parts to it the brochure was the third part. For this Brochure we were allotted three pantone colors of our choice. I chose silver , a dark pink and a light pink. I wanted this brochure to be elegant, while at the same time not loosing the creative side of what the business wanted to display.
