George Chappell
Lucy Hale
In 1839, at the age of 23, George Chappell married Lucy Hale, a single woman of Coddenham parish, his marriage banns being called on the 8th, 16th, and 22nd of December.
They married on 1 January 1840.

Lucy was the daughter of Richard Hale, a labourer, sister of Celia and brother of John, at whose wedding she acted as a witness, signing in her own hand.

George's young wife died, possibly in childbirth (she and George had no known children), and she was buried on 27 December 1846 at the young age of 26 years.
Lydia Sheldrake
George was Henry Sidney's father.
In 1848, two years a widower, George married again, this time to Lydia Sheldrake, the mother of all his known children. Lydia gave him five surviving children and passed away in 1861 after thirteen years of marriage. This was just a year after the birth of her youngest child, and our ancestor, Henry Sidney Chappell.
