| BEFORE you read this, I want you to know that I am not convicting you of anything, nor am I saying that you take part in everything stated in these verses. I used a few to show the severity of drinking and what Gods view on it is. I also am not judging you at all, for it is not my part to do that. I will continue to pray for you and for the struggles you may endure. I want you to know that I am here for you to talk about anything you want! Read on!
For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. Romans 2:13 Righteous: without sin do you dishonor God by breaking the law? Romans 2:23b The law states in Minnesota that anyone under 21 who consumes alcohol is breaking the law, unless consumed in their own home under the guardianship of their parents. 12 As she kept on praying to the LORD, Eli observed her mouth. 13 Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk 14 and said to her, "How long will you keep on getting drunk? Get rid of your wine." 15 "Not so, my lord," Hannah replied, "I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD. 16 Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief." This passage states that she is viewed as a wicked woman for drinking. 19 Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path. 20 Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, 21 for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags Proverbs 23:19-21 This passage is self explanatory. The Bible says to keep your heart on the right path, and when you stray from that path, you submit yourself to worldly things which will affect your relationship with God and put your heart in the wrong place. 20 The earth reels like a drunkard, it sways like a hut in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion that it fallsnever to rise again. Isaiah 24:20 You see how this earth works how the world is set upon wrongful desires. God is comparing a drunkard to the world today. Do you REALLY want to be like the world today? 9 Be stunned and amazed, blind yourselves and be sightless; be drunk, but not from wine, stagger, but not from beer. Isaiah 29:9 God is stating that He wants you to be drunk in him. You know the joy that you feel when you are drunk? He wants you to experience it through Him, not through a worldly possession that can tear apart your world. 33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, the cup of ruin and desolation. Ezekiel 23:33a THE CUP OF RUIN AND DESOLATION. And this cup is what? Drunkenness and sorrow. The Bible is stating that drunkenness is the cup of ruin and desolation. Desolation: a feeling of loneliness and despair, the act or process of devastating or laying waste to a place. Devastating: causing severe or widespread damage So, God is stating that if you are filled with drunkenness, you will be holding the cup of ruin and desolation. Tear that apart, and He is stating that you will be filled with a feeling of loneliness and despair, and you will also be causing severe or widespread damage upon your soul and the life God gave you. |
