A family was strongest in America when the national life upheld the laws and principles of the Bible. When the judicial system started tolerating immoral subjects, like divorce, the rates of these subjects increased (Miller). In previous years, women were submissive toward their husbands, but ever since abuse and murder rates have risen, women have attempted to rule over men (Miller). 75% of deaths in 1933 were natural, but twenty years later, 80% of deaths were homicidal (�Character Counts!).
Murder isn�t always committed by creepy old guys in ski masks. Kids under 18 murder almost ten people a day (Character Counts!). Over 16 million adolescents in the U.S. have witnessed or participated in some form of violence (Character Counts!). Violence is popular today due to lack of morality acceptance and believing that it is all right (Character Counts!). 43% of high school boys believe it is okay to hit or threaten a person who makes them angry (Character Counts!). 75% of boys and 60% of girls have hit someone in the last year because of anger (Character Counts!). 40% of boys and 30% of girls have committed a serious crime before the age of 17 (Character Counts!). A U.S. citizen is sexually assaulted every 2.5 minutes (�Facts About Sexual Abuse).
Allowing beliefs to be expressed can prevent all of this. In the Bible, you can find a solution often called morals. Morals can be defined as motives based on the knowledge of right or wrong. They are crucial to creating good character and living with integrity. A lot of violence is created because of the lack of morals (Character Counts!).
Character Counts! is an education strategy that helps reduce violence. It established virtues like trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship, also known as the Six Pillars of Character. Character Counts! users reported a 46% drop in stealing and a 33% drop in physical force.
See what morals can help change? We were once a Christian-based nation, founded upon Christian principles and living by Christian laws. Now we have created a monster of a nation, ignoring our first foundation and establishing another. The world can only solve real problems by referring to the Bible and it�s Christian principles (Witmer). Worldly issues that we struggle with today with continually plague us until we once again recognize Christianity as the most powerful faith of our nation. Abortion rates will stay high, murders will be committed and families will be ripped apart. Abraham Lincoln once said, �We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties in Heaven�but we have forgotten God.� (Witmer).
