Present Perfect

This is to say what you have already done. For instance, "I have eaten there before."  "Have you been to Mexico?"

You must use the auxillary (helping) verb haber + past participle.

ha han

Past participles are like eaten, been, seen, etc.

AR

-ar  and add  ado.  So, hablar becomes hablado.

IR/ER

-ir/er ending add ido.  So, comer becomes comido.  Ir (to go) becomes ido.

Now, there are several irreguars.

ver-visto romper-roto
decir-dicho morir-muerto
abrir-abierto poner-puesto
escribir-escrito hacer-hecho
imprimir-impreso volver-vuelto

Compounds of above verbs usually follow the same patterns.

descubrir-descubierto     describir-descrito

devolver-devuelto           componer-compuesto

Oír becomes oído con un accento sobre el i. (with an accent mark over the i)

traer- traído  leer-leído

 

What have you done today?

¿Qué has hecho hoy?

I have gone to the store.

Yo he ido a la tienda.

¿Dónde está su padre?

Where is his father?

El ha muerto.

He has died.

¿Has visto mi novia?

Have you seen my girlfriend?

He visto el mundo entero. 

I have seen the entire world.
