masculine, normally ending in -o, and feminine, normally ending in -a. In order to
understand the grammar of spanish, you have to understand the grammar of english.
Definite article in english = "the". However, in spanish there are four
ways to say "the." They are sorted by plural or singular, and
feminine or masculine. Plural words end in -s or -es, like in english.

Casa is femine (ending in a) and singular (only one house) so to say "the
house" in spanish is "la casa."
