About me

Day 1. 5/28/2008 Wednesday

Maggie had surgery and her first bicillin shot. There is a slit left open; crusted blood on her cheek. Notice the slit skin is very pink. Also, her fur under her chin was all wet. She came home alert, sneezed, drank water, and eventually ate. I notice she can't open her right (injured eye) as much when I put in the gentamicin drops. That eye is also cloudy. :(

Day 2. No shot.

Eye gooed shut. I cleaned off her eye much to her displeasure. Her chin fur was dry. I also soaked her cheek and got some of the crusted blood off. I saw her eat some pellets and go potty today. The slit is closed shut by what looks like congealed blood. Notice more blood in Day 2 picture than Day 1. The good news is that the skin is much less inflammed and bright pink. The skin around her wound is tough, kinda hard. Her bottom eye lid is sore and sensitive.

Day 3. No shot (but would have gotten one) Friday

Pretty much the same. I apply vaseline liberally to the skin. She has a lot less discharge. Her eye does not crust over. You can see the yellow dried pus between the blood in the slit.

Day 4. Shot. Saturday. It was not as much a pop as in the office.

In the car ride, she usually has a lot of nasal drip. Maybe cause she's hot? Once at Nick's the next morning it was dry. I believe she scratched off the back left of her scab. Why will she only eat hay in Omaha?

Day 5. No shot. Sunday.

More of her scab is coming off. She's eating fine.

Day 6. Shot. Monday. She moved and it pulled out, had to stab her again. This is still way smoother then oral baytril.
Day 7. No Shot. June 3. Week 1 down. Tuesday.

Look at that skin! Much blood scab is gone away! I also peeled a bit of the blood trail going down. Looks so much cleaner and less inflammed. Her eye hardly has discharge. On the other eye, she still has clear weepy eye.

Day 8. Nick shot. Wednesday.

She looks better everyday. She still has a little sneezing fit once a day. Discharge is very little!

Day 10. Friday. Shot.

Much of the same. I got her to eat some hay yesterday.

Day 20. Monday Shot.

You can see her fur is growing back nicely. She has a little white discharge, minor. There is a crusty bit stuck to her healing wound.

Day 28. Tuesday Shot. June 24. Week 4.

Day 35. July 1. Week 5 down. No shot

Day 42. Tuesday Shot. July 8. Week 6.

Day 49. July 15. Week 7 down. No shot

Day 56. Tuesday Shot. July 22. Week 8.
