After Mario falls down, the Star Spirits talk to Mario and (sort of) revive him. Then a Goomba finds him, and brings him back to her village. You should then be in the Toad House of Goomba Village, where Eldstar, the honorable Star Spirit, tells Mario to go to Shooting Star Summit. Leave the Toad House when you can and talk to the Goombas of Goomba Village. You now have an excuse to leave (save the princess, go to Shooting Star Summit, etc.), so go to the newly fixed gate on the right of Goomba Village when Kammy Koopa, Bowser's partner in crime, breaks the gate with a block you can't move. Goompapa tells you that Goompa has a hammer that can break the block, allowing you to move to Shooting Star Summit. He should be fixing the veranda in his house, so check there. When you get to the veranda, it won't...be there.
Talk to Goompa and go to the left. Search all the bushes for Goompa's lost hammer (be sure to check everything. The other bushes contain coins) . Once you find it, hit all the trees with the Hammer to find Goombaria's lost Dolly. You can now leave this place...after beating up Jr. Troopa, that is. The guy's a pushover, so just keep hitting him with the Hammer.
You should get 20 Star Points for doing such an easy task. He will be back later, so don't put your guard down. Break the yellow block and hit the Heart Block. Also be sure to hit the tree near the Heart Block for a Mushroom. You should also jump on the Springboard to get a Fire Flower. Now you are done with this place, so exit to the right. Now you must fight your way through a path filled with evil Goombas which will attack you. Always, always take Goompapa's advice in battle and be sure to First Strike everything. Be sure to pick up a Star Piece here too. (Stay here for a while if you want to level up as well.) Go to the next scene where you are finally back in Goomba Village, where Goompapa wants to give you something. Mario, Goombario, and Goombaria should be "rapping." If you picked up Goombaria's Dolly where you got the Hammer, be sure to give it to her for a Star Piece. When Goompapa comes back, he will give you the Power Jump Badge, and will be more than happy to explain about Badges. If you don't know what the hell are Badges, you better talk listen to the lesson. After a lot of talking, you will then have Goombario in your party.
Equip the Power Jump Badge, rest in the Toad House and save, because you will be on your way. Break down the yellow block and move on. You will once again fight your way through a path filled with Goombas. On your way, you will reach a Red ? Block which contains the Close Call Badge, which you can equip. Be sure to read the signs, because one gives you a mushroom. Once you reach a Heart Block, naturally use it. Go near the springboard in the next scene and fight the Red and Blue Goombas. They are both easy, so just use your Power Jump. They will then pass out, and you will earn lots of Star Points.
Go back and use the Heart Block and save in the same scene where you fought. Jump on the springboard and go to the next scene. You will then go inside a fight against the Red and Blue Goombas again and the Goomba King. The Goomba King may be huge, but he sucks! Start out the fight by hitting the Goomnut tree with you Hammer, therefore killing the Red and Blue Goombas. Keep hitting the Goomba King and he will eventually tap out. By now you should be Level 2, and I suggest you to increase you Heart Points first. Once out of battle, hit the tree near you to grab a Star Piece. Search the bushes next to get a Blue ! Switch. Hit it down, and the Goomba Fortress will be no more, and you will be able to go pass the Goomba Fortress. Be sure to break a wooden block with your Hammer, making a block with a Super Shroom appear. Leave, and you will see that Kammy Koopa is watching you closely...
Save and you will be taken into a scene where Kammy Koopa reports to Bowser that the Goomba King has failed him. Bowser's pissed. The Koopa Bros., who are holding the first Star Spirit, then appear, and they have a powerful special attack you can't see. Bowser is then pissed again, since nobody is guarding the Star Spirit as they are there. You will then go back to Mario and Goombario. Collect a Sleepy Sheep and then hit a tree to find a springboard. Bounce up to find a chest, which holds the Hammer Throw Badge. Enter Toad Town and the town is in a type of crisis with Princess Peach gone. Go to the right and hit the tree near the House with a spinning roof to reveal a Star Piece. Now go through the gate with a huge Star on it. Go to the right and you will be on the path to Shooting Star Summit. You can stop by Mervulee's place and buy Badges from Merlow. Go up the mountain and talk to the Star that is there. Mario will then talk with all of the honorable Star Spirits, which are wasting their power to talk to Mario. That should end the Prologue part. The game then goes to a short cut scene of Peach meeting up with Twink, a Star Kid.
Then go back to Toad Town (Pick up a Lucky Star and fight a MagiKoopa on the way from Twink) and a Toad should say Merlon wants to speak with you. Go inside his house (keep knocking until he answers) and he won't shut up. Leave when he stops and go to the right to see a bunch of Toads. If you haven't figured it out, these Toads are imposters. Talk to Merlon about this and he will make them go away. You can now leave Toad Town and Chapter 1 should start. |
