| To Koopa Village! After the message that you have just entered Chapter one, you will be at Pleasant Path, which is a type of walkway that connects Toad Town and Koopa Village together. Anyway, in this path, there are lots of Koopa Troopas and Goombas, and in the first scene, be sure to pick up the Dizzy Attack Badge from the Red Box. After getting the Badge, keep going forward until you come to a place with a Koopa Troopa near a tree. Defeat the Koopa and hit the tree with your hammer to reveal a switch. Hit the switch and a bridge will form, allowing you to move on. In the very next scene (it has a sign tells you that the Koopa Bros. Fortress is to the right and Koopa Village is south), go south to Koopa Village. On your way, you should see three wood blocks on the ground. Hit them in this order: bottom-left, bottom-right, and top to have a box containing the Attack FX B Badge. At Koopa Village! Enter Koopa Village, and immediately, a Koopa will discuss about the problem they are having, in which Fuzzies are stealing their shells. I suggest you rest in the Toad House first, and then you go help the Koopas with their problem, though you don't have to. When you have cleared the Fuzzy problem outdoors, go to the house with the blue roof (there are noises coming from it) to meet Kooper, who has his shell taken away too. Kooper wants you to catch this loser, so chase him from inside the house into a walkway and into trees. Here, the Fuzzy will play a little game with you, and he will hide in a certain tree, in which you hit the tree he's hiding in. Once you win, you get back Kooper's Shell. Kooper will come and say he's gonna take a stand, and you are to give him the shell. Once you hand over the shell, Kooper joins your group. When you try to go back to Koopa Village, you will be ambushed by 4 Fuzzies in 1 battle, and you have to kill them. For a quick battle, I usually just use a POW Block or Fire Flower then finish them off with Kooper's Power Shell with the Action Command. While going back to Koopa Village, grab an HP Plus Badge by tossing Kooper from tree stump to tree stump. Back in Koopa Village, the Fuzzies are gone and it is time to raid the fortress, although you can stay in Koopa Village and run a few errands for Koopa Koot (he lives in the house on the far right side of the village). When you're done, rest up, save and leave. Back on Pleasant Path, go towards the Koopa Bros. Fortress some more. Cross the bridge to get to the next scene and there should be a pile of money, with a Koopa Troopa waiting in ambush. If you kick Kooper off a ledge, you can earn a Thunder Bolt. Kick Kooper across a river and hit a switch so a bridge can appear, allowing you to progress further towards the fortress. Across the lake, there are two wooden blocks, in which if you jump between them, you get a Fire Flower. In the next scene, hit the first tree you see you reveal a Star Piece. Keep going and you will eventually run into a Heart Block, a Save Block, and a scene of the entrance of the fortress. Upon entering, Black Ninjakoopa will spot you and tell Red you are coming. In the very first room of the fortress, defeat the only Koopa Troopa with his side kick, a Bob-omb, to win a key. Use the key to open the door near him to the next room. You can fight the two Bob-ombs in this room. Continue to run into a short sequence where the Green Ninja Koopa is locking up a key. When he sees you, he flees, leaving a Koopa Troopa. In this scene, you can collect the Power Bounce Badge by looking at a Koopa in the same cell that it is in. It will walk out from the right side which is hardly visible. Keep going to the right to find a HUGE staircase. Defeat the Koopa in this room to find a Blue switch. Pound it down to make the giant staircase descend. Go down the stairs and go to the left until you find a Fortress key. Once you have found it, go back up the stairs and open the locked door to the right. When you go through this door, you will see another short sequence where Yellow Ninjakoopa is setting up a trap for you to fall in. Fall for the trap anyways, cause you will end up kicking their butts for this. Once in jail, talk to Bombette and make her blow up so you can have an escape route. Upon escaping, the guards will try and kill you. Go back to the room with the key in the cell. Blow up one of the cell's cracked wall to earn a Fortress Key. Now go to the room with the trap and blow up the wall on the second floor to get the Refund Badge. Go to the door next to the "trap" and unlock the door inside of the room (watch out for the Paratroopa). In this next room, you will go through a sorta easy puzzle where you kick Kooper from different platforms to go on. Hit the switch in the next room to make some different stairs fall. Go down these stairs and blow up the wall. Collect the key and use it to unlock the door up the stairs. Hit the Blue ! Switch in the room and it should raise underwater stairs, also raising 2 Koopa Troopas in the process. Go up the stairs and up the slope as much as you can to find a Bob-omb blocking the Hammer Charge Badge. Open the door you passed on the slope and walk a little bit to find the Ninjakoopas. They will put a couple of cannons, firing Bullet Bills. If you must fight the Bullet Bills, be sure to get a First Strike, otherwise, avoid them. You can get a Maple Syrup in this scene, as well as seeing a Heart and Save Block. Recover yourself and Save before doing battle against the cannons. I recommend using Bombette's Bomb attack as a First Strike. Once defeated, recover yourself again and save. Enter the door to the right to do battle with the Koopa Bros. You should have Bombette for this fight for best results. The Koopa Bros. early on in the game had a special thing, and you can see it first thing in this fight. They have prepared a mechanical Bowser, which is controlled from the inside. Always try blocking the attack. Save some FP in this fight so you can kill the Koopa Bros. Once the machine is broken, the Koopa Bros. will use their team attack. Immediately Bomb them with Bombette, cause they will fall down. If you knock them over while as a tower, they will all fall down on their backs, making them defenseless. Kill them off using Fire Flowers and Pow Blocks when they get back up. Enough tormenting should make them fall down, allowing you to get the first Star Spirit, Eldstar. Between Chapters... After having the message that says you beat the chapter, the scene will go back to Peach and Twink, and you will get to operate as Peach. Peach and Twink will talk for a while and then you have control to find a hidden passageway. The secret exit is operated by moving the picture near the fireplace (the small one) which is reveal a button that puts out the fire. Go through the fireplace and press the next button to get to Bowser's room. He's not here, and he left his diary out. Keep on reading it to gain info about how Bowser kicked out Mario and Bet the Koopa Bros., and most of all, info on the next Star Spirit in Dry Dry Ruins. Bowser will then storm in and catch you. You will be taken back to your room. After that, Mario will then be outside the Koopa Bros. Fortress with Eldstar. He teaches you about Star Energy in battle, so if you're playing this for the first time, listen carefully. Once you're done with that, he'll leave to Star Haven. Go left and Bomb the cracked wall using Bombette, the one near the pipe. Go down the pipe and once you emerge from the other, go right. Open the chest containing the FP Plus Badge. Fall down the southern part of the platform and proceed left, back to Toad Town. On the way back, near the entrance of Toad Town, you'll meet an old foe: Jr. Koopa. If you don't remember him he's from the Prologue, where you got the hammer. He's easy: Just use Power Jumps and Bombs to polish off his 15 HP. His attack shouldn't be much of a threat if you've mastered the Action Command. Go back in Toad Town, to run into Twink to tell you what he and the Princess learned about Dry Dry Ruins within Dry Dry Desert. Heal and save in the nearby Toad House. Go south and you'll realize Rowf's Badge Shop has opened (I couldn't live without buying the Speedy Spin Badge), Tayce T.'s House is now accessable (Have her cook your Mushrooms, Goomnuts, and Koopa Leaves for better items) and you can enter Toad Town Tunnels. Across from the entrance of the Tunnels is an irregular flower, which turns out to be a Bub-ulb. Talk to it to get a Magical Seed. Go even more south to find the Toad Town Railroad jammed by a large, white rock. Bomb it an hop aboard the train towards Mt. Rugged (and see an unnecessarily long cut scene). |
