| Melchior's Hut Go back to Melchiors Hut and talk to Melchior. He will then fix the Masamune, but it will take a while. Follow Melchior and wait for about 90 seconds. Melchior will then give you the Masamune. Now take it back to Frog! A Change of Heart Go back to the Cursed Woods and talk to Frog. He will then tell you to sleep over at his house while he ponders if he really wants to slay Magus, and he plays a memory in his mind. He says he wants to, and you pick your party. I take Crono, Frog, and Marle. Frog is compatible with magic, so take him to Spekio first. Frog's other flashback When you finally give Frog Magic, train him up a bit so then he is relatively close to using Heal. When you're done, go to the Magic Cave in 600 AD (It's to the east of Fiona's Villa). Frog will recall the past again. He then will ask you to hand over the Masamune, in which he admits that he is Glenn, and wants to avenge Cyrus by slaying Magus. Frog uses the Masamune's incredible powers to chop open the rock, that leads to Magus' Castle. The Magic Cave The Magic cave is a pretty straight forward place, and the only thing you really have to worry about is the fact that after you kill some monsters, a whole gang of 6 or 7 rats join forces against you. Once you make it outside, you are able to save and use a shelter before you enter Magus' Castle The Evil Hideout This place is pretty weird at the start. First, go into the passageway on the left to find a sword which you cannot pick up. Go into the passageway on the right to find a few kids and people you know. Go back to the front and find a save point. Step into it and you will have to fight a lot of monsters. Use Magic to make this battle faster. Now go inside the left passageway again and find it is now full of monsters. My advice is to keep fighting until Frog learns the Heal magic if you don't have it yet. Go back to the room with the sword to find a person. Frog knows this person, because he is one of Ozzie's henchmen. Slash will first fight unarmed and then use his sword, the Slasher. His favorite technique is Slash, which can hit your whole party. Kill him to get the Slasher, which is by far Crono's best sword. Now in the right passageway, you can choose to fight the kids that are blocking a chest. Later on in the hall, you will find a bunch of people you know. Try not to run into any of them, because they will fight you. At the end, you will find a monster, which is supposed to be the wizard Flea. It really isn't, and when you kill it, you lose all you MP. The real Flea then comes and after a humorous talk, you will fight Him. He isn't that tough, but be sure to Heal when needed. Flea will then die and leave nothing behind. Go back to the front and use the save point, which is really a warping point. Next, kill all monsters in the halls (it's really tiring) in pursuit of Ozzie. Looks like he wasn't kidding about having to kill a lot of monsters in the castle. The idiot will lower cranes to kill you, drop you down trap doors, and all this other stuff. Make it to Ozzie in the fight (he fights you as an ice cube) and hit all the cranes around him to make him fall. Two save points will then appear. Use the real one (I forgot which one is real) and then go through the teleporting one. You will then have to walk a bit and then fight with Magus. The Battle with Magus I usually take Lucca as the additional character in this fight, so you don't have 2 water elemental people. The battle is not what a call tough, and his magic attacks aren't as bad as they are supposed to be. First, lower his Defense by using the Masamune. He will probably change his barrier to an element. Hit Magus with the element his barrier changes into. After a while, it will get stuck on Thunder, so have Crono use his magic, Frog using the Masamune, and Lucca shooting him. Heal when necessary. Magus will then sorta pass out, and you will all get stuck in a time warp. Back to the Past You will wake up in Ayla's cabin, because you were all found by Ayla unconcious, but there was not sign of Magus. Ayla will then let you rest and then leave, because she will go looking for Laruba Village, the village she described back in the party that doesn't fight. Kino will then come in and then you can walk outside. He will say that the forest to the north is burning. Enter the broken down Laruba Village to find that most of the people were captured and Ayla is here, taking the blame of why the people have been taken to the Tyrano Lair. She will rescue the Laruban people, and then head to the Dactyl Nest near the Village so she can go to the Tyrano Lair. Follow her there. The Dactyl's nest. Yet another long, beautiful path. This place is home to many strange things, like the monkey with wings that throws monsters at you. I suggest a party of Crono, Frog, and Marle. Magic doesn't work to well on the monkeys. This path is pretty straight forward, and once you reach the summit, Ayla will be there, getting herself a Dactyl. When she sees you, she will once again join your party, this time to the Tyrano Lair to beat up Azala. Once you have Ayla, you will leave the nest. Fly to the Tyrano Lair (the place east of Ioka and surrounded by lava. |
