After spending several months in extreme pain in my pelvis, being on modified bedrest and on several different pain killers, my doctor decided to induce labor at 39 weeks.
April 3, 2003
7 am - I checked into the hospital. I was so nervous, could I really do this? They checked me again - still 4 cm dilated.
8:30 am - They finally got an IV in me and began fluids and my Pitocin to get the contractions going.
9:30 am - Contractions are definitely going and I'm definitely feeling them!! I'm not so sure that I'm cut out for this giving birth thing!! Is it too late to change my mind? The doctor broke my bag of water and that helped ease the pain a tiny bit. Thankfully the nurse gives me a pain killer (I have no idea what it was) in my IV. While I was still feeling the contractions, the medicine got me to totally relax between contractions.
10:30 am - The epidural lady arrives!!
11:30 am - Epidural is finally in place and working wonders. Contractions - what contractions?! God Bless the epidural lady!! At this point I remember little else until the afternoon.
1 pm - Kyle is hungry so he leaves to grab some lunch. The nurses assure him that nothing will be happening any time soon.
2 pm - Kyle returns from lunch and is rushed into the labor room. It's time for me to push. I'm still not feeling anything but with the guidance of the great doctors and nurses - a miracle happens.....
2:47 pm - Dakota James makes his grand entrance into the world. Mommy and Daddy have waited so long for this wonderful day!!
