| The morning of my wedding, we took our formal picutres at the Ramsey Golf and Country Club. Jerry got a little tired form standing so he sat down on a bench that was there to watch everything that was going on. A good friend of mine, Eitan, got a great picture of Jerry on the bench. After he passed away, my parents and I came to regard that as "Jerry's Bench." We decided to buy a bench and put a plaque on it in Jerry's memory. Reuben Gittleman Hebrew Day School, where my mother wokred, donated money to my parents to help buy the bench. My parents paid the balance and Scott & I paid for the plaque. We invited friends and family to join us as we unveiled the bench and read some poetry and words of rememberance to Jerry. The new bench was palced in the exact same spot where the old one was. Then we walked to the golf course and let loose 30 balloons for Jerry. After the ceremony we allw ent back to my parents' house for food and to view a slide show of Jerry's life that my mother put together. |
