What I did for King of the Mountain
King of the Mountain is a game that captures the essence of the rapidly growing extreme sport of Mountainboarding. King of the mountain offers an exciting new mix of unique gameplay with massive blood pumping tricks, gorgeous, huge venues, multiple modes of gameplay, user customization and tons and tons of style.
As a sports and adrenaline junky, you're out to make a name for yourself in the mountainboarding world. To do this, you'll need to start your career as a newbie and earn the respect you think you deserve. You grab your tunes, your gear, and your pass and you head off to your destination to show your stuff. On the rocks you pull off your best moves which will earn you points which in-turn will earn you cash and a little respect. With the cash you've accumulated during your runs, you can head to the shop to reap your reward by getting your hands on some new boards, upgrading your MP3 player, getting fresh HUD skins
, and even buying a level pass to another venue!
Plain and simple, King of the mountain is all about style. From the phenomenal combos to the big ramps and insane levels, this game is one in a million. But what sets it apart from the other games out there is User Control. To illustrate, here's a list of some of the most notable features in King of the Mountain:
King of the Mountain lets the user decide how they want to view the game by allowing them to custom design their HUD. They have the freedom to change everything about the HUD from the position of each component (Timer, Score, MP3 Visuals, Trick List) to the Red, Green, Blue and Alpha values of each component. They are even able to change the image of each HUD component completely by unlocking new skins that come free when you upgrade your MP3 Player! Receiving these matching skins allows you to mix and match the look of your data to fit your liking! Once a skin is unlocked, it can be changed at any time by accessing the
Video Options menu in the Options screen.
Now, doing cool tricks is one thing, but why not take it a step further? With the heartstopper cam, you can suspend the action of the game anytime you want. And doing this gives you, the player, complete control over the camera and you're free to zoom, rotate and get to fully appreciate your mountainboarding skills.
Emotion gaming is a technique envisioned specifically for a game of this structure: Something with huge jumps, big tricks, and lots of style. What was created was a mechanism that puts the player in the game by embelishing the fact that they are that character on screen. The feature is activated on every jump, every kick-ramp you hit, and every cliff you jump off of. As you launch yourself into the air, the higher you are off the ground affects your game music and sound effects. Example: Lets say you just hit a turn and are coming into a halfpipe with a full head of steam, you hit at the perfect angle and you shoot into the air to show your stuff; but as you rise higher and higher, you hear the background music fade out and the ambient wind get louder and louder. You're now 80 feet off of the ground and it's just you and the air. You're in the zone. But though you've cheated gravity for a few seconds, she gets back to work and pulls you down back to earth. As you speed closer and closer back to the halfpipe the music creeps back into your ears, and when you finally hit the ground
, the music comes back full blast and you celebrate the 720 Stiffy to Tail Grab + 3X Backflip you just pulled off. Get the picture?
The Big Dog. To really get into the game, you have to believe you're actually being represented as yourself. No, we can't model you and put you into the game, but we can do the next best thing. King of the Mountain allows you to create and manage your own playlist and import it into the game. Settling for default game music is swell, but the music YOU want to ride to and the music that gets YOU pumpin' is exactly what you need to be a part of the game. And the music you choose for your playist will also be affected by the Emotion Gaming function. So what YOU do on screen affects how the music YOU. Couple that with the ability to customize your HUD and that is a pretty accurate representation of YOU. To load it, all you do is navigate to the Playlist option from the Sound Options menu, and from there select Custom Playlist.Your custom playlist can be created using the external game tool: J-Style Jukebox Manager v2.0. To learn how to create your playlist, click here...
SPECIAL NOTE: Even though you can make your playlist as big as you want, that doesn't mean all of the tracks can be played in the game immediately. That's because your MP3 players can only hold so much data. That's why you must upgrade your MP3 player Hard Drive to be able to hold more tracks. Have fun...
The J-Style Jukebox Manager is a gift to you which lets you create a custom playlist and import it into King of the Mountain. The location of the tool should be located in your King of the Mountain folder.
Something like "C:\...\King of the Mountain\J-Style Jukebox Manager v2.0"
The functionality is simple:
H - will show / hide the legend.
Right Mouse Click - open the search folder.
Spacebar - save the playlist.
It's that simple, just right click and find the files you want to add to your playlist, and when you're done, press spacebar. Then, load it up in King of the Mountain and voila! That's it. Of course, there are more commands than that but that's all that is necessary to create a basic playlist. For more detail on the J-Style Jukebox Manager, click here.

Well, I'm not gonna lie, it was hell working on this project. 3 1/2 Hurricanes in a month (FLORIDA 2004) leaving us with no electricity near the end of our project posed small problems. But hey, we got it done.
