Jernigan Obituaries

James Thurman "Country" Jernigan, 86, died 9 Jul 1998 at Knollwood Retirement Center in Lillington.  He was the son of the late Guthrie and Eula Mae Wood Jernigan.  He was a retired life insurance and vacuum cleaner salesman.  Funeral services were held on July 11, 1998 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Erwin by Father George Poffenberger and buried at the Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville, NC.  Survivors include two sons, Peter G. Jernigan of Fayetteville and Scott M. Jernigan of Lillington; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  It is sad to lose anyone and especially "Country" because he was so funny and brought joy to so many.  His father, Guthrie Jernigan was the brother of G.W.W. Jernigan and J.B.R Jernigan, my great grandfather.
