Essay of George Materson Jernigan  continued

(Continued from page 6)

Prudie and I had a good life together, always found time and money to enjoy our annual vacation, either in the Arkansas Ozarks or at Dallas, Texas where our daughters were enrolled in the Stamps-Baxter School of Music.  After a long illness with cancer, Prudie died 25 May 1944 and is buried at the Bethel Cemetery in Grant County, Arkansas.  She has a nice grave marker.
On 15 June 1951, I married Margie Mildred Castley of Atkins, AR.  We both retired at the end of 1958, built a new home and are happy.  We attend the Geyer Spring Baptist Church.  In 1961, after a long rest, I went into the real estate business and for a number of years made good money but on account of age had to give it up.
On 19 August 1976, Margie and I left for San Jose, Calif. where Maida and Randell met us at the airport.  Then on Sunday we, with Maida, Randell and Paula, left for Hawaii for a week's vacation.  This was great, especially at my age of 82 years.
As for now this is my story.                                                          END

Lost and Found

Stephanie Jernigan Byington sent e-mail to the editor.  She wrote, "I was browsing thru the net & found the Jernigan website.  I found it very interesting.  My family has resided in Alapaha, Ga, Berrien County for a very long time.  My great-grandfather was John William Lewis Jernigan & was married to Sarah Williams."  She did not ask for help, but if anyone has a connection, please e-mail her.
Phillip Drew Jernigan sent e-mail to the editors and told us that he had been reading a lot about the Jernigan Family on the Internet and asked if we could help him find his place in the Family History.  Our response directed him to "The Jernigan Researchers List" and asked him to check back if he found no success.  We have not heard from him since.  We hope he got lucky with his search.
Robert L. "Larry" Trip sent e-mail to Sharon Tingley who forwarded it to us.  He said his father was Robert Merrill Jernigan, son of Newt Wesley Jernigan.  He provided us with a lot of information we did not have about Newt's children.  This issue of our newsletter contains an article on John Wesley Thurman Jernigan, who is Newt's father and Robert's Great-Grandfather.    Robert is a distant cousin of Juanita Foreman, author of that article, and the co-editors of the Jernigan Connection Newsletter, Dixie Clonts and Don Jernigan.
Nimer Dean Jernigan Deerfield was browsing the Internet and ran across our Newsletter, Issue 15.  We received a message that stated, "I was looking on the net and much to my surprise.  I came across a picture of my great grandfather (Thomas Pinkney Jernigan)......You don't expect to find things like that."  Dean advises that she is the daughter of Newt Jernigan.  Dean is Robert Trip's aunt based on our calculations.  We have made sure that Dean, Robert and Juanita Foreman are now in contact with each other via e-mail.
