Observations - the third year

Well,  I'm a little over a two years year old now If you're interested in what my first year was like, follow
this little link here.   If you're want to see my thoughts during my second year then follow this link. If you're interested in my latest and greatest exploits, this is the place to be.

I'm actually quite behind in my journal entries so they'll be a bit more condensed than they have been in the past.

April to mid-June 2002

Getting out every day for my exercise.   Keeps the staff from rusting up on me.   The lunchtime walks also allow me to enjoy the warming sun and the scents of nature coming awake.  I've also been enjoying the Agility classes as I race from obstacle to obstacle.  I have a secret desire to see my portly head of staff keel over as he tries to beat me to the next one.  Sometimes I'm laughing so hard that I make a mistake and actually listen to him call out the wrong obstacle.

mid-June to August 2002
Can you say "Hot!"  I mean really.   You try dealing with 95 degrees and 95 percent humidity while wearing a fur coat and the only place to sweat from is your tongue and the pads of your feet.  I can't believe that I'm stupid enough to take more Agility classes in this heat.  I think the head bozo of my staff better get central air next year of I'm going to fight for the right to park my butt in front of an open fridge.   Well, at least the dweeb knows enough to give me ice cream on the hot days.

More dog speak
Bark - I'm melting!
Bark - More ice cream!!!
Bark - How about some Rocky Road?!

September to November 2002
No Agility classes this season.  I've enrolled the head dweeb in a fitness program so he doesn't have any excuses for short walks.  It's paying off.  I can walk faster and he can keep up without half the wheezing and puffing sounds he used to make.  Everything else has been pretty status quo.

Now I'm all caught up on observations though I have some pictures and movies to add to the website.  Now that the days are shorter and the nights longer maybe I'll have a chance.  I would have gotten more done over the holiday but I was in Connecticut with the staff's family making a guest appearance for the holidays.  I find that the staff appreciates the gesture and it gives his family something to ooh and aah over.   Plus, I get some fresh roasted turkey.  Gotta love that.

March 2003
Well it's been a stressful time for the staff.  Apparently his other job (besides being at my beck and call) had lay-offs and he was one of those that got to leave.   He immediately went on four ski trips and has been working all over the house.   He says that it's in case he needs to sell it.  Funny thing though.  He's smiling a lot and seems to be enjoying the not working thing though he is reluctantly looking around for another job.  But it looks like getting hit with the axe is less stressful than waiting for the axe to hit.   I'm sure there's a profound lesson in there somewhere but I'm a dog so who gives a poop.   All I know if we go to the park more often and that's a good thing.   So I might have erased a couple job offers off the answering machine.  What's he going to do,  sue me?

August 2003
Ah it's been an enjoyable summer.  With the staff on "retirement" he's had lots of time to take me to the park and to the beach for lots of swimming.   I do love playing in the surf and since we're there during normal people's work hours, there's no crowds to hassle me.  I hate when kids chase after my ball.  It's mine and part of my work-out.  Leave it alone, kid.

December 25, 2003

Boy did I make out like a bandit this Christmas.  I had more presents for me than anybody else had.  Mint tennis balls (is that a hint?), stuffed toys, treats and a tennis racquet so the staff can send the tennis balls flying for my work-outs.  The staff even got a new little doggy picture frame so he can see my picture at night.  Of course, I'm right there on the bed but you never know; I could be off vacationing somewhere and he could miss me.
