![]() If Tears Could Build A Stairway If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane. I would walk right up to heaven to bring you home again, No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why. My heart still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow, What it meant to lose you no one will ever know! ![]() On June 29,1980 Gods little miracle, our second son, was born six weeks premature. I call Jeremy Gods miracle because I woke up at 3:00 A.M. on a Sunday morning in labor. At first I was not sure this was labor since it was still six weeks before he was due. At 6:00 A.M. I started bleeding very heavily and woke my husband, Greg. for us to go to the hospital. When my labor could not be stopped the doctor decided to do a C-Section. Instead of my going to church on this Sunday God decided his angel was to enter the world. Jeremy was delivered weighing 5 lb. 7 oz. and 171/2 inches long, for a preemie he was a large baby, which helped him in his fight for life. He had respiratory problems, his left hand was webbed into a fist, and his big toe on his right foot was cut off at the first joint. There was so much of the bloody fluid in Jeremys lungs the hospital in our town was not equipped to handle his problems so Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX was called and Jeremy was taken there. For several days we did not know if he would live, but finally he started making miracle improvements. At three days old the first of several surgeries was preformed on his hand, through the years he had a total of five. Even with a hand handicap it never kept Jeremy from doing anything he set his mind to do. When I would take Mark, his older brother, to t-ball practice Jeremy would watch and listen to everything the coach would say then coach Mark at home. When he was old enough Jeremy decided he wanted to play t-ball, but the doctors said due to his hand he would not be able to. We decided instead of telling him he could not we would let him try. Then to our surprise he could not only play he was pitcher. The doctor could not believe he was able to do this, and he played baseball pitching until he was to old to play little league. Jeremy was always a very mischievous child and kept me on my toes. From kindergartner thru high school he was the class clown and I always had to go the school. The principal and teachers got to know each other very well during these years. At age 8 Jeremy told me he had accepted Jesus in his heart and was ready to be baptized. Due to his age I took him to talk to our preacher. Bro. Simmons talked to Jeremy awhile then told me he understood more than most adults and understood what he was doing. We soon realized what a special child this was. In high school Jeremy started organizing ways to spread Gods word and started his preaching. He would preach anytime and anywhere he could and was a very good preacher. During one of his sermons I found out when the kids at school would ask what happened to his hand he would tell them he loved tomatoes and one day his mother was cutting up tomatoes and when he reached to get one I cut his finger off, then I was so upset about cutting off his finger I dropped the knife and cut off his toe. All thru high school he was involved in so much. Besides doing his ministry he played football, basketball, was in One Act Play, the band, and his senior year organized the homecoming parade. Much to his surprise he was voted homecoming king and most friendly of the school. ![]() After graduation Jeremy started college and worked as a youth director and was a counselor at Latham Springs where he meet his girlfriend. He loved working with children and started substition teaching and played Santa Claus at the school. The teachers said when they would need to get a substitute the kids would say to get Mr. Jeremy. Jeremy was so involved with the youth his phone rang at all hours and no matter what time it was if a youth needed him he would go. Life Long Ministry was born shortly after graduation where he traveled to different areas preaching and bring youth to know Christ. The La Vega basketball team won state while Jeremy was doing the video taping and he was so thrilled when George Bush then governor of Texas spook all of their hands. He came home and told me the future president shook his hand. On January 30, 2001 this very special young mans life ended in a three accident on IH-35 in Waco, TX where we live. A part of me died that day with my miracle son. It has been so hard for his dad, brothers (Mark & Josh) and I to understand why this happened to a person who accomplished so much in his short 20 years of life. We realized just how special Jeremy was not only to his family but also to his many friends when 1,000 people were at his funeral. The schools dismissed class early and the flags were flown at half mass. I had never seen so many people at a funeral or so many flowers. The only thing he did not do during his life was become an uncle which he wanted so badly. May 14, 2003 Jase was born and we know Uncle Jeremy was rejoicing in Heaven. Greg, Mark, Josh, and I miss him so much and we will be sure Jase knows what a special person Uncle Jeremy was. ![]() Please visit Jeremy's other pages Letters From Jeremy's Brothers Poems Written For Jeremy ![]() Please take a moment and sign Jeremy's guestbook ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Midi Selection: What A Difference You've Made In My Life |
