Consulting
I have assumed the lead role in the development of
various Internet websites. As a team leader, my roles have included JavaServer Page interface development, Java servlet and bean development, and both website and server implementation on UNIX and Windows NT platforms.
Web Software Development I have developed several Web interfaces in JavaServer Pages and Java Servlet technology using VisualAge and IBM Websphere for Java for a major insurance company's Member Services division. This Internet application allows group members to administer their policies by adding or changing their personal information including their address, dependent or provider information via the Web. The application accesses a Sybase relational database backend using JDBC with embedded SQL.
I was also involved in the creation and deployment of a web-based portal site in using JavaServer Pages and Java Servlets using Forte for Java for a SUN Value Added Reseller (VAR) company. This site allowed customers to buy goods and services online, and also to allow their customers to customize their view of the website with their own preferences. This web site ran on Netscape Enterprise, JRun application server and accessed an Oracle 8 database.
Web sites that I have co-developed:

Java Server Development
At a major Midwestern bank, I developed an Internet application to provide a web interface to an existing mainframe application called the Investor Cash Management System. The interface allowed clients to administer and transfer funds they held at the bank. Using Apache web server and Apache JServ application server on a Unix platform, Jerry wrote Java Servlets with embedded HTML to present the web pages to the user. The Servlets sent and received information through a middleware CORBA object, which in turn sent and received information using a mainframe CICS transaction.
PERL CGI Development
I developed several PERL Web interfaces for a major Midwestern bank's Intranet system. My work includes writing a front-end for Human Resources that would allow employees to administer, search, and checkout textbooks, tapes, and other resources from the bank's Education and Training department.
I also developed a front-end that would allow employees to sign up for classes that were being taught on and off site. Jerry maintained and enhanced other PERL based web interfaces for the bank that included the employee 401K, the HR job postings, and the HR employee personal information front-ends. All development was deployed to SUN Solaris UNIX platforms using Apache web server. All applications used an Oracle 7.3 database for storage.

Microfocus COBOL Development
I assisted in the reengineering and conversion of the Federal Crop Insurance mainframe Data Acceptance System (DAS) to a SUN/Solaris based platform. The DAS was a legacy system designed to process claims from various crop insurance agencies around the United States, determine and report which claims were accepted or rejected by the agency, and assign dollar amounts to those claims accepted. I wrote this system using Microfocus COBOL and deployed it to a UNIX platform.
Mainframe
COBOL Development
I have worked in all phases of
development and maintenance for a large midwestern insurance company in the
Individual and Group Insurance divisions. My
experience spans requirements gathering, design/analysis, coding, testing, and
implementation on an IBM S/390 mainframe system. The primary toolset he used was COBOL II , CICS, VSAM, and
TSO/ISPF on a MVS platform.
